Oh, well, I just looked up all possible root origins for the firt "Nin" part of the name, as in the japanese games all the Eeveelutions end with "fia" rather than "eon". And Ninf, or, Nymph, appeared most likely. Another possibility is nija, but I don't think that is at all likely.
