  1. The Pokémon USA dub is... pretty lackluster. It's not offensive or anything, but the voice actors all sound really bored, the theme songs are pretty much the same every season, and there's just no passion like the Japanese version of the 4kids dub. It feels like they're doing it for a quick buck whereas at least the 4kids actors seemed to put passion into their line readings.I think I would like the Unova episodes a lot better with subs because some of the English dialogue is really redundant, too. Granted, I'm outside the target age group for the anime anyway.
  2. My biggest sugestion is to not constrain yourself to the events in the movie. Treat the movie as a guideline and try to see how you can fit it into the story. THat's one of the things the original Kingdom Hearts did very well. The worlds still felt true to the source material but didn't always follow the films to a T. Conversely, I always had a problem with the way KH2 handled the Disney worlds because they didn't really feel plot relevant until the second half of the game. Some exceptions include Beast's Castle and Space Paranoids. What made those worlds successful was the connection to the storyline. Also, consider how Sora, Donald, and Goofy might affect the film itself. What actions would they take when meeting the cast? You don't have to change everything; just try to make it feel natural. I would say you should probably try to find things for SDG to do, but that really depends on how you adapt the movie. How will the villains of your story interact with this world, if at all? Or if you're using enemies like Heartless, think about how they might spice things up for the toys or even Andy's family and Sid.If you need any more specific examples, I can try to give a few of my own experiences in world adaptations. I've done a few for my fics, so I'd be happy to help in whatever way I can.
  3. Thanks for the welcomes, guys! I've heard very good things about Regular Show, so I'll definitely give it a watch sometime. There are about a million shows I probably should check out. It's just time that's the tricky part. XDAnd I proudly wear the nostalgia goggles. Yup.
  4. Hey, thanks! Anyway, two new chapters. These chapters are written in Riku Replica's POV, but because he currently thinks he is Riku and I write in third-person limited, he is descried as Riku here. Just thought I would clear that up. Chapter 33 Chapter 34 I was going to put 33 as a forum post today, but I'm having trouble transferring the text to here without some serious formatting hiccups that'd take forever to fix. I will try to figure out what the deal is. u_u As of now, Chapter 34 has also been revised since I posted it last night.
  5. This'll be the topic where I post my AU KH series, Antipode. So what is Antipode, exactly? In a nutshell, it's my take on what would happen if Riku received the Keyblade as originally intended, keeping in mind his personality from the first game and progressing from there. It's less of a role switch and more of a character exploration with a side of Disney love and my own ideas. I'm not really sure what this forum's policy is on offsite fic links, but for now I'll play it safe and link to the stories because... well, they're long. So... The Antipode The first story in the series and KHA's take on the first game. This is where Riku's journey begins as he tastes the freedom outside his island home. But is it really what he dreamed of all those years, and can he look past his own selfishness in order to defend the worlds? Features an additional world based on Pleasure Island from Pinocchio, a general abundance of Disney, and a different struggle between Sora and Riku than one involving jealousy. Details within. Fragmented Truths Takes place directly after the first story and features the introduction of the Organization as well as a certain Replica. With darkness continuing to spread throughout the worlds, Riku, Donald, Goofy, and now Kairi must pick up the pieces and uncover not only the Organization's goals, but what happened to Sora and the Replica's intents.. Features worlds based on the Sword in the Stone, Jungle Book, and Great Mouse Detective to name a few. This fic is a work in progress. As a random sidenote, Fanfiction.net's text editor likes to smoosh italicized words sometimes. I'm currently going through all the chapters of both fics to fix this. If a few words slip by, I'll try and get to 'em when I can! I will probably post future chapters of Fragmented Truths as actual forum comments as well as links, and if my use of links in this post is a problem, I'll see what I can do to rearrange things. I may also post related drabbles that don't fit anywhere into the main narrative just for fun. It depends on how much time I have. The Year Between Trapped in a digital realm, Riku is oblivious to the perils outside. Kairi struggles to take his place, but in a universe overrun with darkness, she's all but alone. Sora has left to find an old friend, Riku Replica is on the run, and Xion is busy hunting. In the time it takes them to pick up the pieces, the Organization's dark plan nears fruition. AU. A direct sequel to Fragmented Truths, this story follows the adventures of Kairi, Riku Replica, Xion, Sora and Aqua, with occasional glimpses at Riku. It's probably a more ambitious fic, since it's covering so many perspectives, but it's been fun to write. Features worlds based on Gargoyles, Monsters Inc., and Pocahontas. Alternate Link: Archive of Our Own. Contains the full series up to this point.
  6. Aw, thank you!And no worries. I'm one of those adamant defenders of Kairi's character. Reasons why I give her so much spotlight in my writing, in fact. She's one of those characters that has a lot of potential that I feel has yet to be explored in canon. Here's hoping the next game fixes that!
  7. What can I say? Mabel makes everything awesome, and I love Grunkle Stan's grouchy attitude. B) AT is very creative as well, but with so many episodes left to plow through, it'll take me a while to catch up. I think I'm still in the middle of the first season.
  8. They were totally awesome! Beauty and the Beast is still my favorite, but I think films like Treasure Planet and Atlantis are grossly underrated. And thanks for the welcome!
  9. Riku and Kairi are my OTP and I will sail this ship into the sunset. :B Same goes for Riku Replica and Naminé.Destiny trio OT3 is pretty cute, though, and I have some weird pet ships on the side like Kairi and Zexion (long story), Ventus and Xion, Kairi and Ventus, Sora and Naminé (not quite as weird!), and some other misc things. Terra and Aqua and Roxas and Xion are also pretty cute. And if we're dipping into early fandoms, Sonic and Sally from the SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. Otherwise, I don't ship much else in my other fandoms.
  10. Yo. I'm Mega, and I've been a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series for years now. I figured that it'd never hurt to join another KH site, as I've lurked KH13 for a while now. So yeah, here I am.Other than KH, I'm big on animation, especially Disney. I especially eat up the stuff from the 90's - early 2000's, since my nostalgia goggles tend to have a massive influence on my perception of quality. Gravity Falls, MLP, Avatar, and the new TMNT are pretty rad, though. I'm waring up to Adventure Time as well. Someday I wanna get into the animation industry myself, but we'll see if I actually get there!Other than that, I tend to mostly hang on other sites. I've spent the past few years writing an ongoing KH story which I will post to the forums soon-ish. (Warning: It's like... novel-sized. So is its sequel.) I'm a busy college student, but when I have time I dabble in drawing (mostly cartoons) and a bit of digital music composition on the side. I'm also prone to over analyzing this series and having opinions that clash with the fandom at large, so please do not eat me. I come in peace!Lastly, I love KH1. Riku is my favorite character, but Repliku, Kairi, and the Disney cast all come pretty close after him. With all that said, I'll see you folks around.
