  1. Bringing back the KHIV world Discussions thread if everyone wants to comment here.
  2. Hey everyone including @WakelessDream long time no see with Kingdom Hearts IV being brought back to the spotlight I want to bring back the Kingdom Hearts IV world discussions where we can discuss on the likely worlds we might expect for the upcoming game. There is debate regarding the main theme for KHIV with most say "Death" or "Contrast between people from different Positions", but I think Missing-Link and KH4 both share a theme - "bloodlines", I think Nomura would have looked at several Disney movies that have that theme. I know most people went down the line of thinking that the worlds in the game are purely going to be based on live action remakes, but I think the choices will be closer to more traditional selections from an environment and from an aesthetic and thematic standpoint for Sora's development. Moana fits perfectly for theme is the daughter of the chief of the village and is trying to save her village and during the first film her Grandmother passes and becomes a guide for her, and she's the only child to the chief and his wife, so there's a bit of a family driving force going on there. Plus it's our Ocean Level Coco is hands down going to be a world for KH4 no question as it correlates with death and remembrance with Sora trying to find a way back to his reality from Quadratum similar to Hector desperately trying to cross the bridge to see his daughter Coco. Frozen II is about Elsa and Anna discovering how their parents met and their connection to the forest and the world, and their mother was the voice calling to Elsa. Encanto also deals with bloodlines along with family and generational trauma which could provide major conflict in the world, plus the magic being in danger and extinguished by Abuela Alma's misguided thirst for the protection of the magic while creating and spreading stress, self-doubt and conformity throughout the Madrigal family is the perfect recipe that draws in either the Heartless, the Unversed, the Darknesses', and/or the villains such as Luxu and the Foretellers to this world. Not to mention, Sora being someone who isn't a Madrigal, and someone from another world who possesses a gift could also relate with Mirabel as she is a normal girl in a family of gifted people with no gift of her own and where she fits in, what her role is in the family, with their magic at risk, which is similar to Sora who also was passed over his chance to be a master due to something similarly out of his control, and knows what it's like to be passed over a chance to be seen as special and in the end was also key to his sides victory. Also Bruno could even be a possible character of interest for the Foretellers since Bruno can see visions of the Future just like the Book of Prophecies, plus the candle being the "heart" of Casita could also connect to the theme of anything (be it a human, creature, puppet, toy, robot, and object) can have a heart. And of course there's Luke, Leia, and Vader at the heart of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Finally, Zootopia would be a fun world where it would fit somewhere in Unreality since it’s like the real world but just with anthropomorphic animals and be our animal transformation level. The trailer for the sequel drops tomorrow. If it is bound to be in KHIV, it’d be a good time to market it sometime this year.
  3. After three years of being off the KH13 site, three years and 1,131 days of no new Kingdom Hearts IV news we finally got some new news and Images for Kingdom Hearts IV. All I can say from the new images that they look fantastic, and I'm so impressed with the graphics and images of Sora, Strelitzia and King Mickey look in the Unreal Engine 5 compared to the first KHIV trailer released at the 20th Anniversary event 3 years ago. There's no doubt a new trailer for KHIV is imminent, and we will get it sometime next month in June during Summer Games Fest and I predict judging by the progress and graphics for Kingdom Hearts IV that it might come out sometime in 2026 likely mid-late 2026.
  4. I'm saddened by this but hardly not surprised. The lack of news of Missing Link for 3 years straight, getting delayed 3 times, along with Square Enix being mum about its development cycle. I honestly think it was for the best since Kingdom Hearts IV has already enough story and characters so It honestly didn't need more unexplained lore and new characters to make the series feel bloated, because lets be honest, Missing Link was going to bleed into KHIV the way the mobile games (X/Union X) did for Kingdom Hearts III, and possibly overshadow what was already built up like it did in KH3. Hopefully Nomura and Square learn their lesson from this cause while I don't mind new KH games before the numbered titles, I just don't want Nomura to be overly ambitious to have new KH games and lore relegated on a mobile device that involve gacha and GPS navigation which will alienate existing and newcomers to the KH franchise
  5. As much I was grateful we got Monstropolis the Monster's Inc. world in Kingdom Hearts III and that it's now in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, part of me felt that it should've been a world earlier in the KH series like Dream Drop Distance or Birth by Sleep, instead of KH3 mainly the former game in terms of environment and gameplay value. Even I was almost to the point on giving up on Monster's Inc. becoming a KH world even after the announcement of the Toy Story world back in July 2017 at the D23 2017 Expo and prior to the December 2017 leak, and I also had a bias for Pixar to become a KH world sooner than later. Honestly, I was expecting a Pixar world to appear earlier in the KH franchise even before the release of KH3, along with the fact that the environment of Monstropolis would've made it a suitable world for Dream Drop Distance due to the flowmotion and the theme of Dreams/Nightmares , and at the same time the theme of Fear for Birth By Sleep which in the original film, the Monster's scare children for the scream power to power Monstropolis before switching with laughter at the end of the movie and Unversed are attracted to Negative emotions such as Screams along with tying in to Vanitas as he was a major antagonist in BBS and has sent the unversed to various worlds with Monstropolis being one of them. Now granted the reason Monstropolis was used in Kingdom Hearts III over Birth By Sleep and especially Dream Drop Distance was: Nomura wanted to save the Pixar worlds (Toy Story and Monster's Inc.) for a mainline game (Kingdom Hearts III) according to an interview in the KH3 Ultimania instead of a non-numbered title (e.g. Dream Drop Distance or even Birth By Sleep). To make use of the Unreal Engine 4 which captures the look for the Pixar and CG Disney animated films (e.g. Tangled, Frozen and Big Hero 6) over the style of the original graphics (Unity Engine) used from the first KH game up until Dream Drop Distance. To tie in Ventus' heart residing within Sora whom Vanitas has been desperately searching for him while he was busy being reconstructed and also having the Unversed collect the screams of the children via the cannisters from Monster's Inc. to fuel him as screams/fear is a form of Negativity and Unversed are attracted to the negative thoughts and emotions. Monstropolis narrative wouldn't have fit as a world for Dream Drop Distance or even Birth By Sleep respectively due to the themes, gameplay and story, along with the fact that Pixar wanted to have an original story for this world over a retelling of the original movie. But I'm going to be honest, out of all of the Disney worlds in KH3, the issue I had with Monstropolis was that it was the ONLY Disney world that didn't dealt with or had ties with what Organization XIII were doing while they were meddling in the different Disney worlds such as the Black Box (Olympus, The Caribbean), The New Seven Hearts (Kingdom of Corona, Arendelle) or especially the Replica program (Toy Box, The Caribbean, San Fransokyo) making Monstropolis the "odd duck" out. So honestly, I think they should've had either had another Pixar film (Brave or Inside Out) or another Disney animated film as a world over Monstropolis for KH3 as it would've tied in with what Organization XIII had been doing throughout the game while they were meddling in the different Disney worlds be it looking for The Black Box, The New Seven Hearts and especially doing research on the Replica program to fill out their missing members, even though with Inside Out it was out of the question as Big Hero 6 became the last world Nomura chosen for the world selection and on top of that their isn't any Disney and/or Pixar film that would've fit Vanitas as the antagonist of that world besides Monstropolis.
  6. Disney today has released the teaser trailer for their 61st Animated Feature, Strange World: Although the film might be too late to become a world in Kingdom Hearts IV, but just imagine having Sora, Donald and Goofy be enamored and curious of the world and the strange creatures they encounter. Personally the world itself screams Kingdom Hearts and the layout and design would make for an interesting KH level and the trio could provide a good dynamic to Searcher Clade and the rest of the Clade family.
  7. But I still wouldn't rule out September of 2022 for more KHIV news, they could possibly reveal something at either D23 2022 or Tokyo Game Show 2022. Nomura ONLY has mentioned that we won't be getting any KHIV news during the Summer, specifically around the E3 time frame in June.
  8. Not really as @ocean's rage previously mentioned the four elements of Water, Earth, Fire and Air existed long before Avatar: The Last Airbender so this is nothing new.
  9. So Yesterday, Pixar announced their 27th Animated feature called Elementals, where the synopsis describes a city where fire, water, land, & air residents live together, a fiery young woman & a go-with-the-flow guy will discover something elemental: How much they have in common. So basically "What if the elements have feelings". This could make an interesting world for a future KH game, and Sora could have an air elemental form for his world form if he ever visits it, but it's likely that this film is going to be saved for the next KH game over Kingdom Hearts IV.
  10. I could see D23 2022 and/or Tokyo Game Show in September for more KHIV news followed by Jump Festa in December. What makes you say that?!? Nomura ONLY mentioned that we won't be getting any KHIV news during the summer (around E3) so their is still Tokyo Game Show and D23 2022 in September so it will be 5-6 months by then. Nomura ONLY mentioned that we won't be getting any KHIV news during the summer (around E3), there is still Tokyo Game Show and/or D23 2022 in September so it will be 5-6 months after it's April reveal.
  11. Part of me kind of wishes Monster's Inc. should've been utilized as a world for Dream Drop Distance, over Kingdom Hearts III as the gameplay and environment would've meshed well with the Flowmotion mechanic along with the fact I wanted a Pixar world sooner than later.
  12. I realistically see around 1-2 Live-Action worlds at the most with the most likely ones being: Star Wars (retelling Return of the Jedi) Alice in Wonderland (2010 film) or Maleficent Lightyear and Turning Red will all come down to whether Nomura and the development team are in the process of choosing the Disney films they want as worlds or they are almost half-way done with their KHIV world selection, and whether or not Lightyear is one of the worlds they want in KHIV. Granted there have some Disney movies that did become worlds sooner than later like 1-2 years after the movie's release, for instance, the Pirates of the Caribbean world (Port Royal) in Kingdom Hearts II was the most recent Disney world chosen during the development of the game just 2 years before it's release in 2005, The Grid from Tron: Legacy was the most recent Disney film at the time implemented as a world for Dream Drop Distance, and San Fransokyo (Big Hero 6) was the most recent Disney film added into Kingdom Hearts III and the last Disney world chosen during KH3's development. So for now it's a wait and see situation.
  13. So in a new interview from Testuya Nomura he revealed this important key point during the interview: So worth thinking about any Disney films that also share that theme ("contrast between people from different positions." ) Nomura has brought up?
  14. I already put in The Incredibles as part of the KHIV worlds. Regarding Treasure Planet, Meet the Robinsons, etc. as much as I love those films and would love to see them show up in KHIV or in a future KH game, you got to realize that the KH Disneyworld selection is primarily on two things: Aesthetic for gameplay environment Thematic relevance to the overall story and the theme of the KH game. So at the end of the day, those are the main factors on how certain Disney films are chosen as worlds and how they largely fit in the game's story.
  15. Gilbert Gottfried a comedian and actor known for his crude humor, political incorrectness and shrill voice and providing the voice of Iago the Parrot from Disney's 1992 animated film Aladdin and in the Kingdom Hearts games, has passed away today following a battle of a long illness at the age of 67. His publicist told the Washington Post that he died of myotonic dystrophy type 2, a form of muscular dystrophy. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 28, 1955, and started performing stand-up comedy at just 15. Gottfried had a short, 12-episode stint on “Saturday Night Live” during Season 6 in 1980, and he reunited with his “SNL” colleague Eddie Murphy on “Beverly Hills Cop II". In the ’90s, Gottfried landed roles in films like the “Problem Child” movies, “Highway to Hell” and “Looks Who’s Talking Too,” before landing his most recognizable voice role as Iago the parrot in Disney's 1992 film, Aladdin and reprised the role as Iago in various media including the direct-to-video sequels The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Aladdin the Animated Series, House Of Mouse, Disney Park attractions and the Kingdom Hearts series of games including Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and the Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded cutscenes from the Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 ReMix collection. His other major voice roles included Digit from the PBS Kids series Cyberchase, Kraang Subprime in the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, Mr. Mxyzptlk in Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League Action, Dr. Bender and his son Wendell in The Fairly OddParents and was the former voice of the Aflace Duck in commercials for the insurance company until 2011. Gottfried is survived by his wife, Dara Kravitz, and two children, Lily and Max. Rest in peace Gilbert Gottfried and thank you for providing the voice of Everyone's favorite loud mouth Parrot.
  16. I realistically see Kingdom Hearts IV coming out around mid-late 2024, considering if the game presumably had started development around early 2020 following KH3 ReMind, Nomura is not juggling with many different projects at Square Enix, the transition from Unreal Engine 4 to the Unreal Engine 5 and the development time for a big major game takes around 3-5 years to be developed. Technically KH3 started development in early 2013 under the Luminous engine up until development ended in October 2014 when it switched to the Unreal Engine 4 in the same month and from October 2014 the game restarted development under the new engine and ended development in November of 2018 where it had a 4 year development under the Unreal Engine 4.
  17. So Nomura's mentioning on "Worlds are currently being developed" suggests that they are still working on choosing the Disney worlds for KHIV which means development likely started around late 2019 or early 2020. Finally, with Kingdom Hearts IV not being present at E3 2022, It's possible that we could get another KHIV trailer or two either at the D23 2022 Expo or Tokyo Game Show 2022 this September and at the Jump Festa event this December.
  18. Hey guys I updated the Disney Worlds thread and title so if you want to discuss on world possibilities for KHIV you can click right here.
  19. Want to bump this thread in light of the release of the Kingdom Hearts IV trailer. As Strelitzia mentioned in the trailer that Quadratum is a form of "afterlife", the tone of the game seems to be centered around death and the afterlife, so that will probably be the focus of a number of the game's elements, story, and level design as shown with the themes for previous KH titles: Kingdom Hearts - Friendship Chain of Memories - Memories/Redemption Kingdom Hearts II - Promises and Duality 358/2 Days - Identity Birth By Sleep - Connections (Like, "Connections to the Past" and between friends.) Coded - Lost Connections Dream Drop Distance - Trust Kingdom Hearts III - Resolution, but mainly Separation, Connections and Sacrifice Kingdom Hearts IV - Death, Afterlife For Disney worlds, it's a little too early to speculate as "Worlds are currently being developed" going by Nomura's wording from the Q&A. But seeing that Sora will be in Quadratum for a while a handful will be live-action based given the tone of the trailer, while the rest will likely focus on Disney worlds involving the afterlife: New Disney worlds: Coco (The Land of the Dead) Zootopia Moana (Motunui) Encanto Raya and the Last Dragon (Kumandra) Soul (The Great Before) or The Incredibles The Princess and the Frog Star Wars (Endor) Returning Disney worlds Toy Story (Toy Box) Frozen 2 (Ahtohallan) Olympus (The Underworld; could be only cutscenes?) Winnie the Pooh (100 Acre Wood; Optional Mini-game world) So what Disney worlds do you expect to see in Kingdom Hearts IV?
  20. Thanks for your honest response @WakelessDream. Well since the event is almost starting let's see what they would announce and I'm hoping it's not like the HD II.5 event back in December of 2014 and especially the D23 2015 Japan event where we didn't get any information and reveals from the event. Fingers crossed for a New KH game announcement and hopefully a trailer.
  21. With the event starting tonight in our standard time I would like to ask what your final predictions for the 20th Anniversary event are. Here's Mine: Kingdom Hearts IV/Verum Rex: 99%. even if it's just a teaser. A New KH Mobile game: 95% KH merchandising: 95% KH HD III.5 collection (KH3+ReMind, MoM and Union χ movie): 90% A KH bridge game released before KHIV: 90% Next chapters/Episodes for KH Dark Road: 88% KH TV series for Disney+: 80% Re: Union χ as either movie or full Console remake: 70% KH1 to KH MoM re-release for PS5/XBOX series X: 50%
  22. So I just watched Turning Red on Disney+ yesterday. Pretty good film, however when compared to the other Pixar films (e.g. Soul, The Incredibles, ONWARD, Brave, Inside Out, etc.) that could become worlds in a future KH game, I honestly am not sure if Turning Red would become a world. Now on the contrary, if Nomura and Square Enix has the freedom to work on an original story similar to Toy Box (Toy Story) and Monstropolis (Monster's Inc.) from Kingdom Hearts III, then I can see it working as a world. So in order to make Turning Red as a world it needs to be more of an "inspired by" rather than adaptation of, which thankfully Pixar seem more likely to agree to if they find the right common ground with Nomura and Square Enix. Realistically, I could see Mei Lee becoming a potential summon, no question as her move set could be similar to the Meow Wow and Wreck-It Ralph summons when she is in combat against enemies. But what do you guys think? Have you seen the latest Pixar film on Disney+ and do you think the film could show up in a future KH game as a world or have Mei Lee be a summon?
  23. I'm very excited on what will be announced on the KH 20th anniversary event on April 10th. Hoepfully it won't be lackluster as the D23 2015 Japan event.
