The most recent issue of Famitsu Weekly has a large spread on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, which has recently released in Japan. The spread features a few story details, character bios, as well as a few gameplay tips for both Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage- and Dream Drop Distance, including a full list of the challenge locations in BbS 0.2. Famitsu Weekly also interviewed Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy VII Remake and the Kingdom Hearts series as a whole. As of 10:00am EST on 1/11/2017, it is January 12th in Japan, which means Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue has officially been released! This is the first new Kingdom Hearts release for consoles since 2012's Dream Drop Distance on the Nintendo 3DS, so many fans are excited about the release, but that also means spoilers will be across all platforms and social media outlets. To commemorate this release, we encourage you to join the discussion on our Kingdom Hearts 2.8 forum, but we will also be heavily enforcing policies regarding spoilers. Please read the spoiler policy here before posting to the forums. Prior to the official release, the trophy lists for both Kingdom Hearts 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage- and Kingdom Hearts HD Dream Drop Distance were revealed. Feel free to check out these lists and make a plan of action for completing the game! (SPOILERS) One fan was also lucky enough to receive a copy of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 early, and they showed us the disc and provided some in-game screenshots of -A Fragmentary Passage-. We also want to warn fans of the possibility of the "lengthy scene leading into Kingdom Hearts III" being released across social media platforms. As we approach the Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, some lucky fans have already received an early copy of the game. With the release of some early copies, some have already completed the game. Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura has been interviewed by Famitsu in their January 26th edition, which will be available January 12th. In this interview, Nomura talks about Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue along with Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Thanks to @xenosaga for the tip.

Shortly following their post on Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage-, PlayStation Japan's blog has posted another feature, this time focusing on Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, the cinematic component of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. This new blog post features small blurbs about the cinematic itself, traits about the characters that appear throughout the cinematic, as well as a few new screenshots. Square Enix has just updated their Japanese Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue website with a link to a new memorial site for the Kingdom Hearts series 15th Anniversary containing details on a new Kingdom Hearts series memorial stained glass clock. This stained glass clock will be showcased at Shinjuku Station in Japan from January 9th, 2017 until January 15th, 2017 as part of the series' 15th anniversary. It will also feature a large video screen featuring moments from the Kingdom Hearts and a mural honoring characters and moments from the series. The website features the tagline "The story starts moving again." Pictures, such as Kingdom Hearts characters from the past 15 years were also exhibited. Check it out below. This will be exhibited as a mural painting. There is also a Twitter campaign related to the memorial clock. The campaign invites people to take pictures in person with the memorial clock or to use one of the prepared stained glass images given on the official site with the hashtag #キングダムハーツ15周年. All promotional images including the poster for the Twitter campaign can be found below thanks to 4Gamer. UPDATE 1: The Kingdom Hearts Memorial Clock is now set up and open to the public! The website has also been updated to include a virtual version of the clock featuring all the games in the Kingdom Hearts series with short video clips and images. In Game Informer's review for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, it is stated that Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage- ends with a lengthy cutscene that presumably leads into the beginning of Kingdom Hearts III. Gameinformer describes the scene as characters "embarking on the next part of their journey" and that the scene overall moves the story forward. With the first review of the English copy of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue now out and done by Game Informer, this means that now the game has been completed. In their review, Game Informer has confirmed that in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage-, once you complete the game in any mode, you will automatically unlock Critical Mode and you'll be able to replay the game on Critical Mode. GameInformer has reviewed Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue in its latest issue, giving it a rating of 8.5/10 and giving the game its Silver ranking, meaning it's the second best review in this month's issue. The review begins with stating that the concept of the game is that it is the PS4 port of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and the beginning of Kingdom Hearts III. Also, the voice acting is solid, the graphics are crisp and the environments are very detailed, and the controls are as smooth as ever for a Kingdom Hearts game. The camera controls are also easier to use than in prior games. A good portion of the review talks about Birth by Sleep 0.2 -A Fragmentary Passage-, saying that it will be about 3-4 hours long. Getting accessories for Aqua will come from completing quests rather than just opening chests. Each level will have its own mission like finding the 5 gears to get to Cinderella's castle. Also, there is a Critical mode than can be unlocked when you complete the game. There is also going to be a scene that could be from or directly links to Kingdom Hearts III at the end. Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is said to run about an hour long, but is going to be the best visual movie out of all of the HD movies in the series. Dream Drop Distance HD is supposed to run smoother on the PS4 and the touchpad will be used closely to what the touchscreen was on the 3DS. You can read the full review here.
