I agree mostly which is why I was so surprised people were so upset by 16 like FF has never been a particularly deep any semblance of difficulty RPG series There's some exceptions like say 7 remake hard mode but have we been playing the same series

Like listen i love FF, and their other rpgs, but I stand by they are great entry titles to their respective RPG sub-genres, if you want deeper mechanics, look elsewhere lol

The problem with Square balancing is that unlike Atlus balancing there is a point where you don't need to engage with technicalities in most Square titles you can brute force most things.

And can even cripple the enemy in some way

Then when it reaches zero it hurts the main body and increases the amount of damage they take
