as much as i love seeing more zack, they definitely have not done anything substantial with him and i hard agree there. I'm still holding out hope that revelation will conclude that stuff on a high note and make rebirth's stuff make more sense but so far it just kinda ruins him, especially for someone who hasn't played CC yet like my partner. it's like it's baiting new players but not giving them what they want unless they pay CC and wait for revelation

ALl of this has been talked about and people still do, its just a realy old game. Everything that needs to be said has been said.

ANd I don't mean to be a dick here but it just fits

Remake and Rebirth has devalued his character completely by bringing him back in bizarre ways instead. Rather than keeping him dead for what his role is, they brought him back doing literally [i]nothing[/i] and just running around in a multiverse/lifestream/whatever-the-fuck-you-believe-it-is just talking to people that leads to nowhere until he's shoved into a bossfight he has zero reason to be in. This isn't adding more characterization to him, its harming the little and effective character he had to begin with.

The original games gives what he needs. He's a Soldier who befriends Cloud and then dies protecting him and giving him the sword. His story begins and ends there.

He genuinely does not need more than he gets in the original and this is coming from someone who likes Crisis Core and loves Zack.

That is enough to consist as a short story, especially for the original game. Yuffie gets quiet a bit in Wutai too and Vincent has some with Lucrecia. Its not a lot but its enough for OPTIONAL characters.

Not everything here needs an expansion just because they are mentioned. Wutai gets a lot even by its small amount. Wutai is an attraction place after the war that had sold itself to Shinra to make up for it. Rebirth is changing that whole story with how they are expanding it, but it is a different take on Wutai in general, whether its "better" we will have to see as all we have on Wutai is what we hear from Yufie and Rufus. Gi and Cetra doesn't need any more expansion than they already have, that's part of world building. They are ancient beings that lives in the world and doesn't anymore and that they are part of the planet. Black maeteria and Holy are just mcguffins and is treated like it, if anything the expansion in the remake series has made it so much worse because the mcguffin just makes no sense now. Its a thing that's needed but also not needed because Sephiroth has this and that. Aerith somehow knows now what Holy is needed for but still "dies" to the same point she's supposed to die in. Gongaga is just a town that you visit, I am not sure why that is an issue here. The only reason why you would make a bigger deal of Gongaga is because of Crisis Core, not because of the original game.

I can't remember which Dive it was, but they used it in one of the trailers i think and i still really enjoy that one too

I do agree in that sephiroth is far from an interesting viIIain, he’s pretty intimidating but that’s about it aIso idk man, aII attempts to humanize this character or add more depth to him just feeI pointIess cuz what does it matter when his end-aII is being insane

Mog, Gogo and Umaro are just "Why am I even here" characters

FFVI had the same issue. it has shittons of optional party members but none of them have interesting stories

I played through og 7 5x now over a decade and my opinion regarding the writing and world building never changed. It's just so lackluster compared to other FF games

but he does and he barely has any characterization at all other than "I am a monster" and "I deserve to rule this planet"

Jenova works better because a cosmic entity doesn't need characterization

speaking of Sephiroth he's a terrible villain in all FF7 games imo
