I always kind of thought of myself as a nice person.  I always go out of my way to be nice to everyone and make peace even before anything potentially happens.  That's why if I act like a dick to someone, it's usually warranted.

Longer short of it, I acted like a dick to someone on Se7enSins and got the banhammer.  Do I admit to that?  Sure!  Did I deserve it?  Well...I don't know.  Hence the pet peeve.  When you're banned, you generally lose all access to the forum - even the ability to read threads and posts.

But know what really irks me?  The fact that the mod or admin who banned you always sends you a PM beforehand, then immediately bans you.  I assume the PM explains the why, the duration - who knows!  But what the hell is the bloody point if you can't even read it!?

Nevermind the fact that you're not even given a chance to, if nothing else, explain yourself.  The fact is, you're prohibited from even glimpsing at the reasoning behind it, despite the fact that you supposedly received it.  That's like....getting arrested for some petty crime, then being court-appointed a lawyer who only speaks German.

So!  Mods and admins of KH13, how do you guys get around this issue?  Do you simply prevent the banned from making any new posts, but still allow them to read?  Or....are you guilty of doing the same?

Be honest.  I won't judge!  ....Probably.

For the record, I'm a mod on an FF site, and in my years I've only ever had to ban three accounts.  Two of them were the same dude, naturally, who had a serious grudge against someone and was making death threats - there's really no deliberation there.  And the third was a guy who was peppering his posts with weird foot fetish crap - it wasn't a bot because he was active in actual discussions, just kept adding links and pictures to them.  Soo...I had a discussion with him, he claimed he was "sick" so I locked his ability to make new posts and told him when he was feeling "better", he can just PM me and I'd give his permissions back.  That never did happen, but...what did I tell you?  I said I was nice!  :)

I can tell you that you're only ever gonna get banned here if you have been seen to be repeatedly breaking rules. In my case, I patently cannot write a post without a joke of some sort. Which is fine, but only if you're contributing to the discussion which I may or may not have done

we're not mentioning the alts

You're only gonna be prevented from posting and accessing the site until after you've read the pm, and I don't think you get an outright full ban first time round.

second time round however

Hope that helps

2 bans is good

Edit: I'm a mod on another site too! Perhaps we're just used to going our merry way far too much to get used being at the bottom of the food chain again xD

Y-You have no idea how long i've been wanting to hear someone say that. And this is coming from a girl who's been banned a few times.

Was that one of these forums that you must make an account to even read posts?

I usually stay away from these kinds of forums, seems like a desperate act to get members to join lmao

Nah - like i said, it was just S7S.  A moderator (!!!) was posting a bullshit GTA Online money glitch, I called him out on it, and presto.  S7S has plenty of members, and with so many people desperate to exploit games left and right, it's not gonna die anytime too soon.

I have been banned 3 times I think?? Maybe just 2?? But usually before I did get banned, I was able to read my messages. I think. I dunno it's been a while thankfully lol.

It may be hard...and annoying..but it is best to listen to moderators...even if it is hard. I take myself as a generally nice person myself but my temper gets the best of me sometimes...but I understand why it can be seen as annoying, honestly. However, I must agree with Lea. There are things done that makes people get banned...even if we feel as if we do not deserve it. We just have to clean up our act some.

Again I'm kinda rambling, but per my experience, I'm not saying you didn't, but it is best to obey the mods and be polite!  :3
