I added the number 3 after the title, cause I was somehow mislead and was worried that others would be too.

Anyway, the changes are definitely due to the fact that they changed from the Luminous Engine to the Unreal Engine.

Yeah, in 2014 they switched game engines and the 2013 trailer was just thrown together to show off the graphics. The D23 2013 trailer was probably more indicative of the game at that time.

By the time you see it again it'll look even better, hopefully.

Oh yeah. As they have now mastered the Kingdom shaded graphics and the Unreal Engine 4, the series has evolved into something unbelievable.

The gameplay looks amazing, but once things get close up, you can tell the quality in cinematic scenes dropped a pretty good bit from Luminous.

Oh yeah, definitely! As the years have passed, so have Square's development time with Kingdom Hearts III! With all the work being put into it, graphical changes are apparent! And the product isn't even finished! Just imagine how gorgeous Kingdom Hearts III will look like once it's completely finished! I bet it'll be something spectacular to behold! :D

Keep in mind the very first trailer we got in 2013 wasn't even gameplay. It was in-engine and prerendered in Luminous. Square has since then switched KH3 to Unreal 4 and for the most part, we've seen actual gameplay in Unreal as opposed to Luminous.
