Secret Boss Ideas

This is my list for secret bosses in a Kingdom Hearts game. They're characters that I would like to see, along with original monster variants that I've made up.

 

-Exdeath (Final Fantasy V; The World that Never Was)

After seeing what he's like in Dissidia, I felt like Exdeath would be a good candidate for a secret boss. Sora, Donald and Goofy encounter Exdeath in Radiant Garden, where Exdeath believes that a certain set of elemental Crystals is. I chose the World that Never Was because it's perfectly in sync with Exdeath's unholy sexual longing for the Void. I originally had him as my Garnet Match contender for the Olympus Tournament ideas, but then I decided to replace him with Emperor Palamecia.

 

-Cloud of Darkness (Final Fantasy III; The Dark World)

I know I'm going to get flak for this, but I think the Cloud of Darkness would be an interesting secret boss. The Cloud of Darkness in KH is an inhabitant of the Dark World, hence why I chose it for the battle location. Plus, she has "Darkness" in her name, for crying out lou-(gets stabbed with the Keyblade of Heart) Not...funny...Ansem...please...don't...do that...agai-(Particle Beamed to death)

 

-Sho Minamimoto (The World Ends with You; Traverse Town)

SO ZETTA SLOW! SO ZETTA SLOW! I CHOSE THIS GUY AND PUT HIM IN TRAVERSE TOWN BECAUSE SO ZETTA SLOW!

 

-Shadow Blot (Epic Mickey; Mysterious Tower)

Whether or not the Wasteland becomes a world in a KH game, you can't deny the creativity of a fight against the Shadow Blot. The reason I chose the Mysterious Tower for this battle is because Yen Sid's workshop was where the Shadow Blot existed to being with back in Epic Mickey. Maybe he (or it) could even create Pureblood Heartless mid-fight, lol.

 

-The Firebird (Fantasia 2000; Keyblade Graveyard)

The short in Fantasia 2000 with the Firebird was one of the most beautifully intense short cartoons I'd ever seen. I'd die for a fight against the Firebird, and not just one where I'd spam Blizzard. The reason I chose the Keyblade Graveyard is because the Firebird is all about death, destruction and desolation. So of course if it saw Sora, Donald and Goofy, it would try to eradicate them, since they're leaving beings.

 

-The Mecha-Shark (James and the Giant Peach; Twilight Town)

As Alpha Baymax stated in HIS secret boss list back in 2015, the world of James and the Giant Peach translates TERRIBLY into Kingdom Hearts. Looking back, I sort of figured, "hey; why not take the mechanical shark that came out of nowhere and make him a secret boss?" The reason I chose Twilight Town is because of the beach; the water seemed like the PERFECT place for it to pop out.

 

-Providence (Bravely Second; Radiant Garden)

To this day, I STILL dream of Kingdom Hearts featuring Bravely Default characters. When I was thinking about how Yew Geneolgia could fit into Radiant Garden, I then thought about a fight against the Providence, the final boss of Bravely Second. My headcanon is that the KH version of the Providence is an evolved version of what was left from the MCP after it was destroyed in KH2. If you guys remember playing Bravely Second (and this is coming from somebody who only saw it on YouTube), Providence pulled an Eternal Darkness and made it seem like the game was deleting its own file. Imagine if Providence tried to attack Sora and co. with the game's coding. The CODING.

 

-Either Luxu or the Master of Masters

Basically, they're appearing to be the next big villains of the next saga. A secret fight against either one of them seems like a good way to set it up, kind of like Unknown in KHFM, the Lingering Will in KH2FM, and Mysterious Figure in KH BBS(FM).

1) I'd rather have Gilgamesh show up as a representative of FFV than Exdeath. Gilgamesh is significantly goofier and would fit in with Kingdom Hearts better than Exdeath.

2) I guess? They'd have to heavily redesign CoD to get Disney to OK it.

3) I don't know enough about TWEWY to judge him, so why not?

4) Shadow Blot would be interesting, but I'd rather see the original Phantom Blot show up instead. He's a classic Disney villain to Mickey Mouse and an interesting fight could be integrated based on him used traps and tools to hinder Sora and company from getting to him.

5) Like the idea. If not fighting the Firebird on its home turf, the Keyblade Graveyard is a nice substitute.

6) Not a fan. Could be interesting, but I feel like that would just be another Monstro fight.

7) Sorry, but hard pass on bringing in another Square property this late in the game. I get that Bravely Default is great and Final Fantasy in everything but name, but I'd rather have it show up in the next KH saga.

8) I'd rather have Luxu than Master of Masters, if only because that fight could develop Luxu a lot more than he already has been. MoM wouldn't add much to his own character.

Personally, I'd like these characters to show up as bonus bosses (as well as Gilgamesh and the Phantom Blot):

The Horned King
Zurg (because I doubt he's going to be part of the Toy Story world's story)

John Silver (Treasure Planet represent!)
Wreck-It Ralph
Jecht 
Zack Fair (have him return for some sort of heroic face-off in the Coliseum)

Garland (Final Fantasy I)
Gabranth (because I really like FFXII and want KH to represent it somehow)

I doubt The MoM will be a secret boss due to Nomura's comment that MoM won't make an appearance. But if i had to guess for the boss that will connect to KH4 i think a sort of "Ghost" of Strelitzia could work. I mean come on, what can beat an Armored Power Ranger then the Ghost of an innocent murdered child?

For Misc. fights I'd love to see Stan Lee for the Big Hero 6 world (You all know a cameo is gonna happen),

The return of Sephiroth,

a character from TWEWY,

Very Unlikely but maybe some sort of Neir secret boss like Emill,

maybe another boss from an obscure Disney film like Julius did,

Tetsuya Nomura himself,

and some Foreteller boss fights to replace the Absent Silhouettes.

6) Well, I chose him because Alpha Baymax included the Ghostly Rhinoceros in HIS secret boss list, so I felt like it'd be wrong to copy him.

 

7) I never said Providence had to be in KH3. Come to think of it, Providence is the ONLY boss here that I didn't feel like should be in KH3. Weird.

The only one on this list that has a realistic chance is the MoM or Luxu because the secret boss has often, with the exception of Julius though I could be wrong with him, had a major role to play in the story after all. No one on that list except MoM/Luxu can do that.

Except there were plenty of secret bosses in KH1 that DIDN'T play a role in the story, including Sephiroth. Same goes for KH2 with Sephiroth, the Absent Silhouettes and the Data Battles. My point is, secret bosses shouldn't ONLY have to play a role in the story.

The secret boss of KH1 ended up showing his face again in KH2. The secret boss of KH2, lingering will, turned out to be Terra from BbS. The secret boss of BbS turned out to be Young Xehanort. They all played a big role in the story. Therefore, I believe that the only character that realistically has a chance of showing up in KH3 would be MoM/Luxu.

My point is, not ALL secret bosses have to be some cliché "I'm a sneaky guy who definitely WON'T appear in the next game!" kind of thing. They just have to be cleverly laced wherever possible, and require the player to try and search for them. THAT'S why they're called secret bosses, not to be a "special" secret that we'll just end up seeing in the game(s) after.
