So, after watching the new recent gameplay footage given to us on the internet, I've decided to post a thread expressing my thoughts on what I I have witnessed in KH3's combat and its mechanics. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and, uh, prepare to read haha. Anyways, here are the things I liked and disliked about KH3's gameplay. Keep in mind that this is all my opinion on the gameplay and its mechanics
What I liked:
OK, the first thing I like about KH3's gameplay is the ability to switch keyblades mid-gameplay without going to the menu to do so. That, to me, is a VERY welcoming edition to the KH series and I hope they keep that in future KH games beyond KH3. I can see that being very useful in both normal battles and boss battles (and the secret bosses too). Secondly, I love just how much variety you have with Sora's attacks. Ranging from just your standard combos, to your shotlocks, to your flowmotion abilities, to your drive forms ,and to your attraction flow abilities. It's a really nice fresh of breath air compared to the other KH games (not saying that the previous KH games are bad but just saying how nice it is that SE seemed to have combined gameplay element from past KH games together into one). Thirdly, I like great the summons look in KH3. Though I will admit that Aeriel and Ralph didn't look to be the most useful summons in the game. But hey, this is just a demo so I'm sure that they will probably be ore useful in some areas when the full game comes out.
What I disliked:
Welp, now that i;ve gotten the things I liked out of the way. Let's talk about what I personally didn't find all too appealing. Firstly, what I noticed with the ending animation with the Ariel summon was that Sora took DAMAGE while her finishing attack went on. This could prove to be a problem because this could lead to people dying for no apparent reason as well as making summons become a risk for people playing the game on Critical Mode or Level 1. Or even people trying to fight bosses without taking damage. This is the biggest concern I have for KH3's mechanics at the moment and I hope SE and Osaka Team notices that and fixes it before the full game comes out. Secondly, I may sound a little not-picky to some of you but I kinda didn't like how floaty Sora was in his air combos. Granted Sora's floaty animation is not NEARLY as bad as BBS and DDD's floaty mechanics (which is a good thing) but I hope it won't prove to be too much of a problem to hinder the overall gameplay. Thirdly, I seriously hope that we have to work our way to obtaining all of these abilities in KH3 and not just have them from the get-go. Like, remember how in KH1 and KH2 we had to start off with basic attack combos and than we had a wide variety of attacks to use throughout those two games? yeah I hope that this will be the case again n KH3. Wouldn't be much fun if we got everything than and there. At least in my opinion. I'm sure some of you will beg to differ. Which is fine, haha .
What I hope to see in the full game:
Alright now that we've gotten pros and cons out of the way let's talk about what I hope to see in the final version of KH3:
Well I hope that we get the option to choose how we want do a combo like in KH1 and especially KH2. If you don't know what I mean than I'll use KH2 as an example. Remember how in KH2 we can equip and unequip any of Sora's attacks and forge our own little combos for certain boss fights? Well yeah I hope that we get to do that again in KH3. it would be nice in my opinion. And I know that this is just a demo but it looked like we probably won't be able to do so. But I could most likely be wrong on that. I know this may sound dumb but I hope we don't get combo master from the get go or early on in KH3. Now before you guys start throwing tomatoes at me just hear me out. KH 0.2 had an excuse to give it to us from the get-go because one, it was basically a KH3 demo. And two, it makes sense from the story's standpoint after the events of BBS. But I hope we at least get it at the halfway point of the game.Again, I know some of you may beg to differ but this is all what opinions are, right? Lol.
Well that's all I have for my imput on KH3's gameplay. What do you guys think of my overall opinion on KH3's gameplay? Weather it's positive or negative it's fine by me. I can take it . Also what are your own personal thoughts on KH3's gameplay from what you have seem from the recent footage?
