The only reason I created this account is cause for whatever reason "fans" of the series are criticizing the game in the weirdest most childish way possible. heres a proper review
the good
Presentation: Everything looks amazing. Very few textures seem to need a bit of extra work. just amazing all around. The game looks better than the trailers.
Performance: Better than expected. On the ps4 pro you'll rarely get frame drops and that's only if a lot of shit is happening.
Combat: fast, handy satisfying combos (unlike other games in the series). Floatyness although present is not much of an issue. The magic is the best we've ever seen in the series. Even better than 0.2. The forms are cool. They fixed antiform and gave you a reason to actually use it. Situation commands are pretty good. Team attacks are cool as shit and better than ever before. Summons too.
Platforming: Better than ever. Flowmotion is exactly what it should be (toned down but useful).
World design: Better than ever. Big areas, bigger worlds and a good amount of exploration available.
Story: Mostly great. Towards the end of the game its actually amazing. Nomura delivered on his promise to have things resolved. The games answered questions you didn't even know you had. Every major mystery from the previous games is addressed and given a satisfying answer.
the bad
Combat: The Disney Rides are trash. They are cool for like the first 2 times you try them but you quickly realize how broken they are. They break the Flow of the battles too.
Ability system: Although its cool to see this aspect of kh2 make a return they could have done 10000 times better. Nomura had his work cut out for him but for some firetruckin reason decided not to have abilities tied to forms like before. Forms canno longer be leveled up and I see NO reason why that is. It was the best way to make grinding fun since you were grinding for two things at once. Both for the form you're using and inevitably you were leveling sora up as well. No idea why they didn't do that here
Platforming: Wallrunning can be a bit awkward.
Pacing: ALL of the story happens at the last 20-25% of the game. This ties to a bigger issue: No original worlds. Twilight Town was a joke. It had like 2 explorable areas with no platforming and nothing worth anyones time. No radiant garden, no mysterious tower, no destiny islands, the keyblade graveyard is small and uninteresting with 0 exploration and the same goes for the final world. The reason this is tied to pacing is because in previous titles, these places kept the story going throughout the playthrough without letting things get too stale. You would visit more than once and get meaningful revelations and story bits. In kh3 the important shit is crammed into the last 2 worlds.
story: Maleficent and Pete were..uhh..useless. We never got to see them do anything. No resolution whatsoever. The whole box thing went nowhere
The ugly
Promotion and misinformation. We were lead to believe that Both radiant garden and destiny Islands would be actual worlds we get to experience. TT was one of the first worlds to be in a Trailer and what we got was a step down from KH2. Complete firetrucking joke. No reason why its as small as it is. Mysterious Tower was absent as well, even though it was advertised in one of the trailers. And the worst bit of misinformation in my opinion is an interview nomura did where he said that Roxas is the "biggest secret of the game". Umm...where was that exactly? His whole bit was probably the most predictable and underwhelming thing in the story. In the kh2.5 event back in 2014 they showed a trailer where sora was actually exploring Scala ad Caelum but in the end product it was nothing but a battleground. Nomura also said that MoM wont make an appearance but his "surprise" (THE BOX FOR ANYONE TOO STUPID TO GET IT) would. And it did. FOR 2 firetruckING SECONDS AND WE GET NO INFO ON WHAT IT IS OR WHAT IT DOES.
