Well, I checked the search engine and didn't see this, so I'm sorry if it's repeated thread.

 

What do you believe? As in religion? (If you have a religion, what religion is it?) Why do you believe that, or why are you a non-believer? And, c'mon, guys, let's try not to turn this into a big debate over what's true and isn't. Otherwise it just turns into a big argument, and takes away any fun or point of the thread.

 

Anyway, I'm a Christian. It just sounds.. right to me, idk. I believe what the Bible says.

I believe there very well could be a higher power in our universe, but I don't really believe in 'God' per se. The Bible is just like.. dumb to me. /shot

I believe that there is a God, yes, but I don't think he judges us and punishes us for our sins and all that stuff they teach us.

Basically, I think church tries to make us fear God, making him seem like a judge, and that one little screw up could land you in Hell. I don't like that.

I believe that God is a friend to us all, the little ones and the murderers and to those who never got a chance to hear about God.

Well, I don't wanna say that I'm Athiest, since I'm not, but I don't really see proof of 'God'. If someone can give me hard evidence that I can say and be absolutely sure that, "Yes, there IS a God.", then I'll believe.

Don't just give me a book and say, "This happened. Learn it. Trust it. Worship Him."

There are some things I agree with in Christianity, but there are also a lot of things I disagree with. I don't think someone should be condemned to Hell because they don't agree with the Christian religion. or how, if you die by violence/murder, even if you were just a random victim, you are doomed to just roam Purgatory forever unless someone specifically prays for you. Kinda makes me wonder just how "loving and forgiving" God is.

 

TL;DR I'm kinda-sorta Christian, but I believe that we should live our lives the way we want, and not give a damn about what happens after. fin.

I'm not what you call a athiest but I don't believe in God because my life is poof he dose not but it's what you call devil's poof (the idea that there is no evidence that the devil exists but there also no evidence that says the devil does not exist so therefore one cannot rule that the devil doesn't exist) but it's just one way of thinking.

i do agree that some of the stories in the bible are very 'unrealistic' to the image of god people like to have. for instance noah's ark, where god decided he didn't like like the world so was going to drown it and kill everyone in it. i feel the bible is a bit unreliable that way.

I'm a mormon, and no, mormons are not polygamists or amish. Those guys are wierd.

I don't really have a religion, though my family celebrates Christian holidays (Christmas, Easter, etc.) I just believe what sounds right to me. For example, I don't believe that "god" created humans, but that is not to say I don't believe that there is no god. I do believe that there is some form of "heaven" (or maybe I am just scared at the thought of there being nothing after death). I guess you can say that I go more by the ways of science (evolution, etc.) than by the ways of religion, but that does not mean that I don't believe some of the more religious views.

I am a Roman Catholic. I agree with about 95% of the things the church has to say.

 

However what I find extremely interesting are the "Concidences" that relgions have with other religions and the things religion has with science.

 

For example,

 

Why is the same spot where Abraham attempted to sacrifice his son to God also the same spot where Muhammad rose to heaven in Islam?

 

Why does the big bang fit with "Let there be light!"

 

These are just two of my many theories.

I'm pretty confused about my religion. I go to church, yeah yeah, but theres some things that seem like they're too unrealistic or that god wouldn't do something like that.

I go with the flow though.

I'm a Christian! I've been going to church since I was about... 3...? months old and got baptized 3 years ago.

According to my mum, i'm an athiest..... i'm actually mainly Christian, but i believe in god (to an extent) and a lot of what the bible has to say, but there are some things about the bible that i just don't believe (e.g. Adam and Eve)

 

So mainly, i just go with the flow and let life be lived

Yeah, I get what you guys are saying about some of the Bible stories. Still being Christian, honestly, some of them I don't believe. I think they were just meant to get a point across. They have found evidence of a major flood during what would have been Noah's time, and I can't find any other reason for the world to exist, for us to exist, so I think that the majority of it is true. (:

I accept both explanations for creation, evolution,...(Science and Religion)

If one exists, it doesn't mean the other can't, because there are some evidence that both are right, so why wouldn't I believe in them.

Besides religion has been proven wrong many times, as science too has been proven wrong or inaccurate at some points.

I understand if you don't believe in God though. I actually went through a time where I didn't believe in God, for many reasons, but something significant in my life happened that made me start believing again.

Antheist. I do believe there is someone out there but I just don't know whom. There is no solid proof of any religion and I am one that needs proof. If there is a GOD though I don't believe that what he's doing is right. Christianity for example (now don't think I'm critizing anything because I'm not trying to. I'm just giving my opinion), I've read the whole bible and half of the bible is false. For example one part said that he holds no judgements yes it says you will go to hell if you're gay. That's holding a judgement against someone. Also it says in one part that animals and humans are treated alike but then thoughout the bible, the animals were used as offerings. That's not treating the two species alike then. It just doesn't make sense to me at all.

Not meaning this in a bad way or anything, but when did it ever say anything about gay people going to hell? I never read anything about that. I think maybe they are considered equal but, even though I love my dog to death, I still eat animals. Unless you're a vegetarian, you do. So I kind of understand that part.

Some versions of the bible do state that the gays will be damned, which is stupid.

Though remember, the bible was written by man. Half of it is most likely not true
