I think the real issue here is that all the weapons in our arsenal do the same thing. Yes KH2 took away some agency with RCs, but we had drives, limits, magic and summons that all do different things and have utility

Whereas look at all our options with KH3, only links and magic aren't tied to SCs

Grand magic just shows up when it wants to

that's a serious lack of player agency

and when I can choose between links and magic 90% of the time they do the same thing

Well you have some keyblades, items and cooking to make them show up more often

Grand Magic should cost MP to use, that's my hot take
