My dad's a taxi man, and when I was 12 he needed knee surgery and he was supposed to not really run/drive or do anything difficult with his knee for seven weeks

But a taxi driver only gets paid for the jobs they do, there's no sick pay

So he held out for like 10 days and then started work again

National insurance was supposed to be a safety net for self employed people, but the government makes it so firetrucking hard to sign on for even short term benefits

He hates them

I hate them too

It sucks when you work hard to get the degree and then as soon as you get it, you look around and are just like "Welp...No company is hiring me...This is fine I guess..."

My grandad bought like five houses in the 80s because the government were selling of council estates (I think they're called housing projects in America?) to make a cheap buck

They cost like £1000 or something equally cheap, £500 even

My parents got lucky, they put down a deposit when mortgages were way cheaper like two years before the recession firetrucked everyone over
