> you can't just make a referendum if the previous one didn't go as planned

We have elections every five years, are you saying we should only ever have one election and never again?

laughsinnomura

It's moot anyway

you elect someone for x years, then chose someone else because the situation change, here you voted for something to happen, so it needs to happen, that's how democracy works, next time they will think a bit more before thinking they can control people's mind that easily

Except not really though, the situation has changed here

We originally had a EU referendum 20 years ago

brexit didn't happen yet

Why did we need a second one?

Maybe brexit hasn't happened but plenty of other information is now out in the open

because your government thought it knew the result in advance and could prove the other party wrong

Yes, I mean that is why it happened, it was a stupid reason but there you go

so now your government need to act in consequences

If we had another referendum now I think it would be much less stupid because there's much more people being more informed about things and not wanting brexit to happen

yeah but that's not how it works

That's what happened in 2016, they had a vote for no reason

because if you redo referendums once, all the next ones means nothing since they can be redone ad nauseum until the result please the government

At least now there would actually be a reason

Well the 2016 one was already a redo

it kills the purpose of it

The result killed its own purpose

It was a 51% win, that's nothing

It's not like a supermajority

Or even a 60% majority

yeah well too bad

Great argument Noleen

That's the thinking that got us into this mess

I dont want to ruin my country because of 1% of people
