Because I just have no clue how these decisions were even made. Are they lazy? Are they under pressure? Do they just hate the fans?

It's not like they really care about making a great game, they just want to make a product to sell merchandising

It's never been more obvious than now

After you buy into the "it'll sell regardless" mentality for years on end you'll stick to it no matter what

I feel bad for the actual dev team, I'm sure they would prefer it if they could flex their skills and develop a very well-crafted and polished product but they have neither the time nor the budget nor the motivation.

Imagine applying for your dream job of making a Pokemon game hopeful that you will be able to be creative and work as hard as you can only for this to happen

that's why game dev scares me
