Maybe the relief is coming in time for people to observe Australia Day.

Beginning of new semester for me

At least only taking 3 classes

On the downside i gotta wake up at 7:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Better than grade school where people would wake up at 6:00 to get ready to leave before then

True

God I have no idea how the firetruck I managed to wake up that early every weekday

And stay in school for 8 hours straight

A bit of leeway for the snooze button

As early as kids can get out w/ the last segment optional, there are considerations of having school start later so kids don’t have to wake up so early and be tired in the morning. Some schools in California want to start that, but that can cut into extracurricular and other after-school activities.

It's proven teenagers, especially 13-16, need about 10 hours of sleep as that's the most active time for development iirc

I'd definitely think secondary schools should start at 9 at least but preferably later, but in the UK they absolutely should finish at 2pm

In the winter it's super depressing and unproductive having to wake up when it's pitch black, go to school when it's pitch black, and when it's finally 3pm and you get to go home it's still pitch black

Jesus, I had no idea it is so bad over there

It's worse the further north you go

Same in Norway too, add in the cold ass snow in winter times and it's worse

Living relatively next to Equator makes it so that I don't have any experience with weirdness like that

The Scottish Islands get dark pretty early in the winter, on the plus side in the summer it almost never gets completely dark

I'd hate to live in Norway tbh

I hear there's a part of the country that is dark for like 2 months

Probably somewhere in the north

Not like that in Oslo

I find Britain bad enough and I live in the sunniest part of it xD

Oslo is the capital isn't it

hadesthink

But it's more on the south side

Noice, is that where you live

:axelbehold:

@Estoria#4001 just to give you an example, I woke up at 6:30 am today to hitch a ride with a friend who picked me up at 7:20 am, it was still dark at that time and only about ten minutes later did the sun start coming up

I'm going back home now, and I left uni at 4:30 pm when the sun was setting

It got pitch black at about 5 pm

Here the latest the sun ever comes out at is 6:40 am
