Honestly feels like it's been the longest flashback

It's definitely one of the longest

Though of course Luffy's was the longest

But it feels long

Weekly releases are hell man

One Piece is one of those series that's much better binged

Not only that but the placement is honestly awkward in a way

I wish the flashback was earlier

Should have had the flashback when kinemon told the strawhats the story

There is a much different feel between a flashback after Marineford and a flashback smack dab in the very beginning of Act 3

It's awkward in the way that Law's flashback was akward

Delaying the confrontation with Mingo even longer

See, I don't find it honorable

Well, it is honorable

But like, Oden trusting the snake that took over the country to keep his promise was a bit much

And he didn't try and retaliate for five years

Not only that, Oden even had plenty of chances to ask Whitebeard and Roger for help, both who would have dropped everything to do it

Then there's one more issue

Why the hell didn't Whitebeard try and save Wano

Ace had been there before

Also, does Izo even know what happened to Oden and his brother

I mean, he should as Ace was on Wano. But then did he try and retaliate too. Will he even be in this arc or is he stubborn like Marco and doesn't leave Whitebeards old home

Apparently it's based off of a Japanese play

And with Wano basically being feudal Japan

It makes sense for it to be

And those usually have 5 acts

It's also notable that Act 3 in Kabuki plays usually has the lowest point in the story, the "great tragedy"

There were only two actual Act 3 chapters before the flashback started

 

Neko and Inuarashi wondering where everybody was, and afterwards the chapter where the bombs were detonated

 

Then flashback right afterwards

I am rereading One Piece right now, which is my yearly reread so I will get to Wano soon and absorb all that lore again properly
