It's the players job to make sonic feel like he's going at mach speed

Imo, I think the best type of sonic game is where you can, by hook or crook, get through levels just holding the stick right, but the satisfaction comes from exploring every inch of the levels and timing every hop skip and jump perfectly while keeping momentum

You can get through city escape doing nothing but running and the occasional jump but it'll give you a d grade and it won't feel as good as nailing every ramp and half-pipe perfectly

What you said Walrus is why the adventure formula of sonic games is still my absolute favourite

i tried playing sonic adventure sometime last year, and I honestly could not stand playing it

like, the cutscenes and control and everything. Might've been the port idk
