So basically we have universal healthcare, the NHS, and a bit of background lore, the government we have rn has been defunding it for 10 years.

It's almost always running at 80-90% capacity

So now this shit comes, the NHS absolutely cant deal with this, so Boris has two choices, admit he firetrucked up and give the NHS the money it needs OR carry on the way it is.

He basically picks the second, because he absolutely doesn't wanna be seen as if he was doing the wrong thing the last ten years, and he bs's that his plan is "delaying the peak of the virus"

ITS NOT. the govt advice is, if you have corona symptoms, DON'T call the NHS helpline, DON'T call your local doctor and DON'T go to hospital. Just stay at home for 7 days.

Also, the NHS is not supposed to test people for the virus, they're only testing people already in hospital

It's like an artificial delay, because realistically we probably have 5000 cases, but only 1100 of those are being reported. So many people are just gonna die at home because its government policy to just not test people for the virus, and not even let them get any help.
