CS strategy is definitley a lot more stream lined due to the quartz system which some people understandably dislike

Well, like you said, the system in Trails 1 is barely explained

So streamlining might be good in that regard

Also if you ask me the combat so far has been nothing special

combat in trails never gets super amazing or anything

it's never bad, at least

at the very least, the Ys side of the community is not as bad

like you don't find as many toxic people there as you do for Trails

Ys actually looks awesome

Makes me want to play it

Ys is very gameplay centric, the later games do focus more on story. But the games have always been gameplay first

so opposite of trails in that regard

like Ys 8 for instance, despite being a newer Ys was lauded with praise by the fanbase

it is very much so, because Ys 8 is far far easier game than the older Ys

so you'd think there'd be a shit ton of toxicity regarding the lack of challenge but there isn't really

One could assume

the newer Ys games have a party system where Adol travels with party members

but the older ones are just Adol solo, and are far more difficult

i also think it's because Ys is far more casual to get into. Cuz the games are all self contained

and for trails it's the complete opposite really, you tend to get hardcore fans discussing it and perpetuating the toxicity because of how dedicated they are

like you can jump into Ys 2, 6, 7 or 8, whatever and be able to follow along everything minus a few references

whereas if you jump into like Sky 2, or Cold Steel 3 or something

you're gonna miss a firetruckton of context and references that'll kill the understanding of the narrative

so you could at least follow the newly introduced characters well

though I imagine Cold Steel 3 was pretty confusing at points
