It's something I wish a lot more JRPGs did beacuse it adds so much

Question, do the confidant stories matter for the main story now for other characters

What do you mean by matter

Ryuji's arc in his confidant story compared to him in the main story as an example

complete goddamn night and day difference

Does his arc carry over to the main story now or still not yet

I don't know how else to explain it

His development in the confidant story

Does that carry over or is it just ignored

None of them are ever ignored

I think the better way to phrase it would be does his dialogue reflect anything that happened

They are absolutely ignored

None of the confidants story matter to the main stuff

Everything they go through there is neither mentioned or felt in the characters on how they act or behave

Which is what happened in the og, so my question is if it still happened in Royal

Whenever you talk to any of the party members late in game they reference the links and the confidants are shown aiding in the ending as well. Also, they grow in the main story and it's reflected quite well I think. It's not a matter of their growth in the confidant bonding changing them. It's the other way around

P3 and 4 are like that as well

That's the thing, the confidant story should be reflected on the main one

But it never did

It's also there for characterization which is what I love about them

I don't think they have to at all personally

Ryuji as an example went through the story of his struggle of his broken leg and what it meant to him

And starts to get more humble in the confidant story

Yeah that helps you care for his character

Which is outright ignored in the main one

At least for me it did

Which is awesome, you get some good characterization

But it means jackshit because the main story ignores it

The point of the confidants to my understanding is not making them grow. It's just showing more of how they are
