Jokes aside I think it's good to understand just a little bit of geography

You don't have to list every major mountain on earth but just know a world map just enough so that you avoid saying "Sahara is a rainforest" or "Hawaii is a continent"

Might be important in lower school years, but we Italians stop studying it after year 2 of high school, as we start studying philosophy instead

to be fair the only geography i really learned beside my own country's was from board games

On a basic level, I think everyone should have a small knowledge of how earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, floods, and other hazards happen

That's interesting, philosophy is an optional subject in the uk

I didn't learn it but my brother did

Yeah, after you're 14 years old geography is optional

But up until then you learn a basic amount of how natural systems work which I think is good

we learn that stuff in science and not geography

maybe thats what they meant?

Ah I guess, they didn't communicate it very well though

I find it funny that we saw bigger maps the older our classes got (had an Italy map in early elementary and had a whole world map by the first years of high school)

Also at one point we had a map of the Roman empire for some reason

IN LATIN

? I don't really remember being taught to memorise names or anything, but we did learn a lot about other countries

Pfffftt

It's your history I guess xD

What about tourism and population etc

It was definitely one of my favourites for sure

I did an PowerPoint presentation on Japan for World Geography back in High School

Social, commercial aspect of the countries, although we only got to Italy and not worldwide
