While Johns has written some Titans episodes he hasn't done much else to control the show. The overall narrative of the seasons are by Walker.

The show does take some cues from his comic run of Titans, but that only goes so far as to what characters are in the show being used

beast boy actor wanted to be tim drake/robin

what they did with beast boy was a tragedy

Ryan Potter wanted to be Tim in the movies with Affleck when he was still on

From what I know he auditioned for Dick Grayson for this show but they changed it to him being Beast Boy instead
