In Lassen, it's required to watch a safety video about the National Park and what do to since the hot sept is dormant (but still active because of the Sulphur Works).

There's a section that specifically states why they no longer do guided tours of the Works because a guide fell through one of the cracks and was boiled alive.

(it was recorded and it a part of the video, but they cut out the gore and actually body melting.)

The air burns.

Smells like firetrucking rotten eggs and it's awful, but I miss it so much.

Yah. Haven't been in years.

I legit grew up around the National Park. It was only like a 20 minutes drive from where my dad lived.

I knew the ins and outs and memorized the safety video and got free cookies from the gift shop since I knew all the workers personally.

Yeah. It was great.

Is this shocking?

There’s some pretty shallow lakes in between the mountains. They’re cold as hell, but it’s a pretty easy swim across.

There is this one lake that’s completely see-through and is like 100ft deep. And it’s closed off to the public because there were too many people that thought they could touch the bottom.

Sounds cleaner

There’s also a hiking trail that leads up to the mouth of the volcano.

Lassen exploded out the side, instead the top, so it’s only a fraction of the size it used to be :(

Is this in Hawaii?

It’s about a 5-6 drive North of the Valley.

Imagine how many dumbass PoGo players went there in search Fire-type Pokémon.

The Hawaii islands are caused by shield volcanoes. Lassen is a Composite.

And became "Ghost-types" as a result

Ah firetruck, it’s actually a lava dome :(

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Kids aren’t allowed to take the Lassen Trail.

My dad was a Pokémon guy too. He would have enjoyed that joke.

I’m stealing your joke.

Nice thing to pass on

He liked Pokémon, YugGiOh, AtLA, Zelda, and his love of comics.

He liked playing Skylanders with us and liked learning to play.

He was super good at Mario.

Does he play KH games?

Sonic the Hedgehog?

I don’t think he has, my older brother does!

Older brother.

I mean classic, early 1990s Sonic.

No. He was a die hard Nintendo fan if I remember correctly.

He wanted to get us a 3DS so we could play Pokémon, but never could.

My older brother LOVES Sonic and Kingdom Hearts. We was actually astonished when he realized I’ve only been playing it for 2-3 years now.

My older brother’s favorite characters are Axel, Riku, and Roxas.

Mine were Axel, Riku, and Sora.

Axel holds a special place in my heart because he’s so much like him.

I’m sappy on main.
