Like, WoW there are 12 classes with 3 specs each

Oh, no, they're very simple in that

I think only summoner is the only class where you get two specifications

Summoners can be healer or DPS

Ah, I see

Explains why there are so many

Like, as a Death Knight I can choose between Tank, DPS or another DPS

A monk can be healer, dps or tank, etc

aahh, i see

Though, i guess i was counting the extra classes(like gatherers, crafters, etc)

Because discluding those, you get about.. 15 actual combat classes

and now two more are coming, bringing the count to 17

Right. I assume they are all quite different

and i guess counting summoner being able to diversify, that's 18

They are all diifferent, yeah, each getting their own gauges and side mechhanics that play different

Because WoW has 36 specs, split into 12 classes. But there is overlap of course

Hmmmm.. there is one class i would say overlaps, but it's because of lore

Red Mage has some white mage skills and black mage skills

Joooooin the ff xiv gang, Nooovaaaaaa

But, it brings melee, something those two classes don't have

Red Mage has Wind,Earth,Cure, and even Raise magic

That's white mage

And it has black mage magic, in the fom of thunder, fire, i think ice too

5 seconds as opposed to 2 seconds

Hmm

I guess it's just quite a different way if doing things

To other MMOs I mean

it is, yeah. Overall, it delivers a classic experiece of MMO, but it refines certain things and adds QoL to certain aspects

I really need to properly try ESO first tho

It's free to play, unlike the other 2 big ones

I always thoguht that one looked dope, but that one, ESO, came like... in he middle of my constant watching of FFXIV

I'd watch streams, watch youtubes play FFXIV

all because i'd want to play it myself ?

Oh lol, yah I get it

ESO is weird, it's more action gamey

You have like 5 abilities and a special at one time, but you can swap each one out for what you want

Rather than a load of buttons

oh right, it plays like the usual Elder scrolls game, right?

It's first-person too, isn't it?

Yeah, I guess it's kinda like them but not exactly

I'd imagine it melds MMO mechanics with action-game mechanics, like the games themselves

Right

Cause unlike Wow, the enemies are physical like you can bump into them

But they don't feel as... Solid? As an actual elder scrolls game

I think in FFXIV, you can always just clip through enemies and NPCs,lol..

are we still trashing ff14?
