yea lol.. especially since i spent that time on the project... i mean the least they can do is just say "sorry we are going another route".. ez

beats just sitting around wondering

Here's the thing Ince
If I get the email that my resume made it in, I deserve at least 1 email back

I think many are afraid to be frank w/ people about going a different way and even word it extensively to seem extra caring.

Automated, prefilled response quack

I once called a place for follow-up a bit after to check and b/c I was told it showed initiative and interest since it had been a while w/ no word from them and the girl that answered the phone basically told me that calling to check won't increase my chances of getting hired.

My favorite is when people say “ItS jUsT a CoUrTeSy To Be ToLd ThAt”, when you don’t get anything back..

Like.. are you implying all employers are rude then??

Lol..

That's why I ask or make sure to read about follow-up.

well.. yes. it is quite rude to ghost a potential hire

Sometimes, they'll just outright tell me that if I don't hear from them in a certain amount of time that they list, I'll know that I'm not proceeding the the next steps of the process.

especially since i was "in their final picks" you would think if you were one of the finalists.. and they didn't choose you. they would let you know. lol

Email or system-generated emails can be slightly impersonal if they're worried about that.

that's honestly better than nothing incen

if i know, "hey i didn't hear from them after Aug 1st, i didn't get it. oh well" better than nothing

There have been rare cases in which I have been called directly by the interviewer about the status of my application in rejections.

The way I usually see it, a phone call is a good sign and an email or not hearing for a while is a bad sign.

It's usually a mystery for a while if there isn't contact, though, but deep down, there is the notion that chances diminished.

well yea, i mean i'm basically accepting i didn't get it. seeing how it's been 2 weeks.

but you never know

unless they tell you.. lol

Exactly

No words mean no sure answer

I wouldn't take it as an absolute rejection yet.

yup! they could just be seriously dragging their feet for everyone

at least that's what i want to believe

I waited two weeks myself and I thought I didn’t get the job, though just as I was about to tell my cousin that one day I didn’t get it, but then I got the phone call.. so it went well

But now I suffer as a barista so...

Some places indicate that it takes them longer than two weeks to come to a decision.

It definitely helps to have someone to vouch for ya.

barista's only suffer at illiteracy when it comes to people's names
