I read something about taking advantage of the counter earlier...

I usually use Rattatouie or Xion to keep the counter from reaching 0, but now I’m not sure

But if you make it hit zero, you can get your boosts to carry over to the subsequent turns.

So, higher hits that don't ignore the counter would help.

But you have to not deplete the counter until you reach the last slot.
