I like to think Saix was weaker at that point, because the moon, Kingdom Hearts in this case wasn't powerful enough

saix needed to keep him from leaving

but this means that he was holding back because he wasnt trying to kill him

He certainly talks like he's out for bloodshed

sure but when you think about it

saix is only there to try and keep roxas from leaving

because they need him

I'm suddenly wondering how Saix found out Roxas was ditching them and how he reacted

Maybe Xion was trying to trick Roxas. Somehow she knew that Riku would be in TWTNW and knew that they needed to clash for Roxas to go back to Sora

Roxas/Xion kinda becomes firetrucked up when I think about it like this, but that's okay

i dont think it was trying to trick, but i dont think she wanted him to basically be killed to rejoin and recomplete with sora

she wanted him to rejoin when he accepts it himself

That's how I understood it

She wanted to do good and not let Xemnas win but she also didn't want her friend to die either

If Xion wanted Roxas safe, she'd tell him to lay low

Or at least be stealthy about it

Sidenote, I love how desperate Roxas' plan is to ruin KH to get his friends back is. It makes zero sense and that's exactly why it's beautiful character writing

they did not have any option to do this at that point in time because they were all under a lot of stress and remember that they are still kids, too. there are impulsive actions going on all around and not knowing what is truly right but being forced into specific situations because there is nothing that can be done anymore
not to mention xemnas speeding up the absorption process

Roxas is very much mentally a child

she didnt tell him to go kill xemnas at all, but she was already also returning to sora by the time roxas defeated her

and it's not like his somebody had a lot of intelligence to start out with

xion too, and she ended up thrust into a position in which she had to give her life to make sure that roxas stayed alive

its all messed up on every single angle

Well putting the most basic form of logic together, if Roxas destroyed KH, he's dead. So she might as well have
