But...ROTJ is better than anything in the sequel trilogy.

Yes. But my point stands. It’s best to start off with A New Hope for Sora’s Journey for a Star Wars world

Like, I want to see Sora, Donald and Goofy (maybe Kairi with them as well) explore the planets from A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back first. Sora in The first Death Star, helping Luke and Han rescue Leia. Riku assisting the rebels at Hoth, Luke and Sora vs. Darth Vader at Cloud City. Like I want those first before getting into Return of the Jedi

Going for the Prequels ain’t a bad idea at all. Believe it or not, when it comes to the tone for Revenge of the Sith (the best of the Prequels), I always find Roxas as the perfect candidate for a world based on that film

Any characters can time travel in the series, so anything can happen

I know many people find Terra a better candidate, and I can definitely see why. But take things more serious and emotional, I always find Roxas one of the two perfect ones (between him and Terra)

As for Episodes I and II…well…they’re better off for either the BBS Trio or any protagonist from Union Cross. I don’t hate those films like many fans love to trash them so hard, I just don’t think either the Classic, Destiny or even the Sea Salt Trios would work for those two

A New Hope or Return of the Jedi are like the only movies that would even work in KH

And Return of the Jedi feels much more pragmatic of an approach to adapting for a video game

A New Hope has 2 planets total not including the Death Star. And one of which is only for the rebel base, and the other's only noteworthy locales are a desert wasteland and a bar

Return of the Jedi, while most of it takes place on Endor, at least has much more interesting action happening on Endor, add on the Death Star and it feels a bit more fulfilling for settings in a game

You can even throw in Jabba's Palace

You also get a Darth Vader encounter that you can actually win without it detracting from anything

Sora can't help out in the Vader fights in ANH and ESB because Obi-Wan has to die, and Luke has to lose. He doesn't have that issue in ROTJ

I personally think The Force Awakens would be perfect for Kingdom Hearts if variety was the goal though, but KH doesn't like to overlap on world themes, so even with that they prolly wouldn't cover everything TFA had (Desert, Forest, Imperial Base/Snow Planet). And the idea of Light rising to counteract Darkness vibes with the themes of KH much more strongly

The Force Awakens…maybe…but even so. The film is alright and all (the other two kinda stink). I can see Kairi or Ventus in Jakku and Star Killer Base

Also, you made a good point about the Vader fights. Obi-Wan has to die and Luke has to lose his hand, and Sora doesn’t need to be involve in those fights

But still, I kinda want to see the entire Original Trilogy being tackled in the KH series for Sora to explore in

When I wrote Wrath of Nobodies on Fanfiction. It was so fun to work on Revenge of the Sith, using Roxas to actually get into a huge fight against Dark Side Anakin at Mustafar, but it made it even more emotional

Don't forget, in the cancelled game, Fragmented Keys, it was confirmed they were gonna (or planned) to put Star Wars in it

It's only a matter of time really.

Fragmented Keys was a series of concepts and proposals, it doesn't necessarily mean that had it released, it would have had those worlds in it. It was also by Disney and not Square Enix

So the devs wanting to use certain worlds/concepts can't point to SE and Nomura wanting to do the same

Right. The fact that these concepts were in the planning phase at one point means nothing because, as far as we know, they were never formally greenlit.

It’s like saying Sora’s lion early design will show up just because concept art of it existed at one point.

In fact, there’s a lot of stuff in KH that never got past the planning phase. Donald, most infamously, went through like FIVE redesigns before his current appearance got greenlit.

I think I’ve sufficiently recovered from the trauma of saving over my trophy hunting file enough that I’m willing to jump back and finish the job of platinuming KH3. I’m close! I’m at 74%!

The hardest parts will be treasures, lucky emblems, and synthesis, but I’m willing to use a guide. And I’ve already got Ultima Weapon; which cuts out a big chunk of the effort.

I also won’t have to bother with any minigames besides Frozen Slider, which is a relief.

I got my 7 yo sister to play KH1

What does she think of it?

Well she's been watching me play it but she likes it a lot

She just gets really pissy at the Riku race

Saw a tweet today that said something like “Starting the Kingdom Hearts series for the first time!” and I was like nice but then I looked at the next image he posted and it showed him starting with KH2

I mean I hope he has fun but dang

Nah it was real, he said he watched a summary of KH1 and COM

He also admitted he was barely able to follow the summary so good luck to him

doesn't play the first game "the summary was hard to follow for some reason.." HMMM

I started with KH2. He made a reasonable choice.

His motivation was that he heard it was the best one

Fair enough reason I suppose

Most popular anyway

Yeah, not my personal favorite but still a solid second place. Regardless, KH is such an episodic series that starting with 2 has the same energy as starting a TV series at season 2 because you heard it was the best season

I mean, KH is told out of order so you may as well start with a random episode
