forced periods of inaction, in a sense. the fight is extended to a certain duration due to not being able to damage the boss during said times. it breaks up the flow of combat in a less-than-appealing way

Yes like a Zelda game almost, there are certain intervals where you can't damage a boss until a certain phase

i'm not so sure. with the zelda bosses, you can continue to try various things, even if they have a shield, for example. there's a specific thing you end up needing to do in order to continue/finish the battle, usually involving dealing enough damage or using a certain item.
with the oogie boogie fight, it's literally dragged out by preventing you from dealing hp damage, and the only thing you can do is wait until he becomes available again

Exactly. It’s not like you’re failing to figure out the puzzle; it’s literally just “firetruck you, you’re not allowed to damage me”.

played a game recently where the boss has a specific hp threshold where it switches to a new phase. not via cutscene, either, just a phase change. the problem is, once you hit that point, you're prevented from doing any damage until he finishes the animation for the phase change (or at the very least, it's difficult to do damage). that's unnecessary: if they didn't want me to be able to do damage, just make it a cutscene or something, don't dangle agency in front of me like a dollar on a string

Earlier zelda games have certain phases in that fashion though, not counting BotW

Oh for sure. Even OOT is like that. The very first boss, for example, climbs up the wall and makes you dodge enemies for a bit before beginning the next phase. Really pointless.

Yeah that's what I meant, it just unnecessarily implements too much from early zelda games for oogie boogie fight in 2

The Hydra fight is like that too. You have to waste time killing the heads before you can damage the main body. And the only skill tested in that is how well you can mash triangle.

There's only like, 2 ways to fight most bosses lol

There's only one part with multi-triangle presses tho; everything else is just single press to decapitate the heads

Still, no skill. Just press the button when the game tells you to.

At least when you're killing the heads, you feel like you're doing some degree of damage. You're not just hitting the heads and not cutting them off, you know?

Look I get that you hate KH2 being everyone's favorite but your making mountains out of a molehill lol

"Press the button when you're told" is just-- that's just video games, friendo xD

I'M LISTENING TO A SAïX INSPIRED PLAYLIST ON SPOTIFY AND "Busted" IS ON IT AND I CAN'THELP BUT LAUGH MY ASS OFF.

Well I guess aside from oogie boogie in 2, is there any other boss fights with classic zelda like mechanics or is it just him🤔 ?
Because I feel like everbody else felt straight forward even with mechanics

Do you know something I have noticed about a majority of Kingdom Hearts fans? Many younger fans, including those who are children tend to connect to Sora easily but many older fans, especially those my age or older tend to connect to the other characters more like Roxas or Riku.

Sora is basically a gaming icon for kids, parents with kids or vulnerable adults (including those who are disabled and/or neurodivergent such as myself) which makes sense and it's what I have seen from most Sora fans and I am a fan of him as a neurodivergent person.

It's so true

je pense que cest a causes des mondes disney qui ont rendu le jeu un peu trop pour enfant

I think it's because of disney worlds that made the game a little too childish

without Disney I think it could have become an anime

Or a good manga

and anyway even stars wars is at disney now
