Nomura's favorite animals are lions/cats and he makes Sora catlike whenever he can. He doesn't have to be a lion. He can be a fluffier cat. I figured there's no way Sora can be any other animal with Nomura having his say. Sora himself is actually pretty cat like in my opinion. I've had cats and they can be pretty energetic, sassy, tough (taking on and bossing around animals 3 times their size) and also very affectionate. Sora's also lazy when he wants to be. Sora can also be more private about his deeper issues/vulnerabilities and gets misunderstood by others at times. Cats are also naturally useful to us by hunting down vermin that would harm or bother us and Sora is also kind of seen like that since everyone expects him to be useful. So yeah I can see Sora being pretty catlike. Kairi has fox ears on her hoodie so I was like okay fox.

Kairi does seem like she would prefer more canine animals like foxes tbh

I think he's a overall animal person considering how much he loves all the dreameaters and other critters like Remy and Chirithy. Plus they all love him back. He literally was able to summon a flock of birds to him in Corona. I was like, dang Sora I know you can connect to others but when did you develop the power of unconditional instant love from animals that only Disney Princess have? But since this is Nomura, Cat person.

And if Kairi would be assigned as a fox, that would make her doglike, as foxes are canine animals

Yeah I think that too. Kairi just screams dog person to me. She bonded with Pluto real fast too. She comes off as more canine like by being really aggressive in battle, loyal, energetic, forgiving and always pure and stuff we see dogs as. More on the fox thing, Foxes are also seen as perceptive and mysterious which she is.

I don't know why but with this logic, I can just picture the Pee Wee dog scene but with either Sora or Kairi, or Pluto

Riku reminded me of a bat because bats use echolocation and in KH2 I thought Riku was basically seeing in the dark like that. Then DDD comes along and his main Dreameater is a bat. Plus bats are associated with the darkness but they're cute and more good then anything.

And because of the logic that Sora would be a cat person and Kairi would be a dog person, Kairi's reaction would be pretty chill while Sora's reaction would probably be disgusted

And with this logic, Sora would probably say "This is why even though I like dogs, I gotta be honest and say I'm more of a cat person because of things like this, no offence to Goofy or Pluto, but the sounds of them eating that food just makes me wanna throw up!"

Speaking of that. I think meanwhile Kairi thinks it's gross Figaro coughed up hairballs while Sora could care less and just cleans it up because he thinks it's less nasty then Pluto throwing up and eating his own vomit.
