or modify the exe to redirect the request to another address

if all episodes use the same exe like a dlc, then we only need a phone that got at least episode 1

that's not the problem

the issue is that the exe calls to the servers, which don't exist anymore

thst can be fixed
other discontinued games are still alive thanks to new servers
also it can be bypassed with a crack or smth

I think there's a real difference to games that got shut down here and games that were niche, exclusive to specific devices and from Japan in 2008-2009

Coded was ONLY on Docomo P-01 devices

even the game could do a self check if we modify the exe to request to 127.0.0.1 using a custom virtual server installed on the phone

Besides, if that's even possible those guys would have done it before

All they do is tinker with it, I think accepting that Coded is truly lost media is the safest option until someone decides to care enough about it

probably just taking longer bc there isnt that much info about the device

which is doable
someone just has to be wiling to do it

Who would? Isn’t it extremely impractical to create an entire new emulator just for one game?

On top of that, a very niche game no one cares about

Seeing also none of them actually cares enough to do it lol

docomo has other niche games but literally unknown Japanese games maybe outside of a FF game, Before Crisis

those would be the only two worth it and even then that's not really enough

It's the same with Vcast. a guy wrote an emulator sort of for it, but it's very jittery

And no one cares about that either, seeing how VCast is non-canon

afaik he is currently just looking for the exe (not demo) and a way to extract game files

I just think we need to stop and ask ourselves if it’s really worth the effort

does it have to stay as lost media?
if someone wants to rescue it we should support him

Not necessarily, but like, what are we missing out on?

It's been going on for this long and 0 progress has been made, so it's clear it's not even remotely a priority

It sounds like it's proving to be nothing but a headache.

I just want to know what the end goal is. What would we get from Coded that we can’t get from re?

i think its pure preservation but if he wants to extract the files
id not be surprised if he tried to reverse and recompile it for android/ios

The game's exactly the same

The demo is really the only different content in a sense

So yeah. Nothing to preserve.
