The English Script tends to make things more flowery and vague, and Nomura isn't writing every single line of dialogue, so it's not always his fault for small writing choices

Xemnas revealing to Demyx, Marluxia, Larxene and Luxord why they were recruited is much more matter of fact in the Japanese

Whereas the English is much more verbose

And makes it out as if it has immediate relevance that will come into play later within the same game

There's also people being confused at Ienzo saying to Sora that "last we met was at the castle". The JP is much more clear he's speaking to Sora as if he has Roxas's memories, and that's why he says that

Nomura should Kojima it and have a personal hand in overseeing the translation of the script

But the EN script removes a line of context and makes it a bit more confusing

And then there's Keyblade Master vs Keyblade Hero

Well a little mystery/ambiguity is good for you! Keeps you on your toes- enhances replayability :D

Idk man lol it just be like that sometimes

Ienzo referring to Roxas instead of Castle Oblivion doesn't break the game for me

I'm more talking about how the conversation generated a lot of confusion online because it omits some context in english

It was just an example of the EN script changing stuff and leading to it being more confusing

Like KH3D is a much more confusing game in English because of how it translated Yen Sid's dialogue

Like I hear what you're saying but-- I don't personally see it as big of a deal

The one thing the translations absolutely got wrong that confused me was the "blank canvas" line Xehanort says- in English he says like, "fill the world with a bright light" or something but in JP he says he wanted to leave a blank canvas

But aside from that shrugs idk man I've been able to follow the story lol

Hearing about the Japanese version makes me imagine Sora singing the songs of Irino Miyu

Since, yeah, it’s obvious

Never said it was impossible to follow the story because of the EN changes. I was just giving examples of changes made that obscure intent

While yes there are some lines they say in Japanese that could actually be easily translated into English, don't forget that it's already difficult to translate JP to Eng in general

ouch

recap episode

I wanna post this now

Yes, that is Miyu Irino singing Hikari

It's a challenge to try and write/type what the JP script literally says because what they mean in JP does NOT make sense in Eng

So it’s basically Sora singing Simple and Clean

And vice versa

So fans who play both the JP and Eng versions need to understand that

There has to be a flexibility in the scripts otherwise it just would not make sense

I mean, obviously. But the EN script at times does add much more flowery language than the JP did, where it would be translated very simply

Plus compare KH2 Atlantica in English to KH2 Atlantica in Japanese

Again the Xemnas one he speaks super matter of factly. "You were recruited for x reason" - Scene end, but the English made it much more verbose and changes the vibe the scene seems to end off on

That I agree

They could have been more direct in Eng
