not exactly true, because there is a cutscene in kh1 that introduces the keychains

so they are indeed a canonical thing

It's canonical but not taken too heavily depending which ones used when

donald tells sora he can attach that keychain to his keyblade

tarzan still canonically gave him the keychain tho

and you get oathkeeper when kairi gives sora the good luck charm in kh1

so canonically sora has oathkeeper in kh2 technically the entire time if he wanted to

eh maybe, but then again the keychain thing is a factor that plays into bbs characters upgraded keyblades so who knows

also i think there was originally an animation in kh3 where sora switched the keychains on his keyblade to switch them

which also must mean drive forms are canon

honestly i generally think most of what happens in gameplay is canon to the characters

in gameplay it always feels like sora is absorbing goofy into himself to transform in kh2

when he says "give me strength" I thought that he was being quite literal
