Since everyone got their names from MoM, maybe he gave pride to the box. Perhaps the box contains something he’s extensively proud of. His ‘pride and joy’ so to speak.

My hc on the box is

it's a portal, or gateway; so MoM can get in and out of Quadradum

that was my theory as well. its a doorway to quadratum, and luxords card he gave to sora will be a key to using the box

I’m waiting to see if Luxord and Demyx’s somebodies are in Missing Link before I start speculating on their presence in Quadratum
