You don't actually even see the real him until the Goblet of Fire

But the eluded to him many times.. this is just their way of doing so with no backstory yet.. I quite like the idea of seeing his threat first.. and then learning about it later.. what lead to him being who he is.. WHAT he is

I don't like how we've beaten him already. Why should we now take him as a serious threat if we've kicked him and fates ass before even stepping a foot outside Midgar

it also adds one more yaoi character for the fujos

The flashback against the dragon is effective because Sephiroth is a powerhouse lv50 with high level back who downs the dragon and Cloud scrubs out in the fight

It establishes him as dangerous

Now he's just a punk who we already dabbed on

 

I think we fought an illusion of Sephi not the real one, as a last test from destiny, and destiny is the one talking to us

 

This kinda established him as dangerous as he rains a meteor on us and just kinda flys away after getting decked on by 5 people
