During Legion alpha there was one dev who designed brewmaster monks (the tank specialization of monks) and he had the stupid idea to tie the selfheal of that class to orbs which spawn around you in the boss arena and you have to collect them to get healed.

and the idea itself is already so incredibly stupid because tanks need to position bosses and all the alpha players mocked him for it because he was so convinced regarding something that was fundamentally flawed. Like if you are into MMORPGs and have average knowledge you immediately realize how stupid his idea was

Once met a guy who was obsessed over Axel

and it turned into an absolute flame war between the monk community and the dev

I might've started talking with him months after (he got his life together), but axel simps still scare me

until people bullied him enough into changing it

he left the WoW team shortly after this and went to the hearthstone team btw

LMFAO

the mechanic still exists but now you can press a button that will automatically consume all the orbs regardless of your position

I mean

That guy was absolutely messed up about Axel

the blue part got added

you know there's often this claim that players are good in identifying problems and bad in finding solutions

WoW players are great in terms of identifying problems and finding solutions

because they spend their entire life on this game

so if an entire subcommunity of wow players tell you that your idea is stupid maybe you should listen to them

especially when they even gave you the solution

which is this ability

he was like

stupid stupid lol

Why didn't they just do away with it full on if it sucked so hard?

because just adding an ability that consumes the orbs is smarter than completely redesigning the selfheal of a class so it was the most efficient solution

in terms of time investment

giving devs the most efficient solution means that they can invest time to work on other class mechanics

and it showed because monk tank was absolutely busted in Legion

Path of Exile has a similar community

these people are batshit insane

I got all my microsoft excel skills from studying classes in WoW btw

laughsinnomura

because these people work with spreadsheets

Oh yeah because clearly WoW devs use their time wisely in the first place lmao

FFXIV has some crazy shit too. Some playstyles involve framerate. Monk in FFXIV plays differently on 60 FPS than with 120 or 30

Speaking of microsoft excel

There was a tournament for it lol

In a microsoft power point tournament pokemon would likely win 😊

they get a spreadsheet and need to answer questions about them
