I was under the assumption these games have no connections

not all of them do. and they're more like subsets of shared lore. 1-2-3, 4-5-6, not sure about the others

for example, the entirety of DQ1's would map is like 1/4th of DQ2's world map

maybe even less than a 4th

and i only just learned this recently, but DQ11 is like the

OoT of DQ. literally a timeline split at the beginning of the timeline which goes into 3 different eras where the older games are
