raiden94 15 Posted May 25 That kinda gets into the finer weeds of FF mechanics tho- like FF has always been like, "yeah you CAN use buffs de-buffs and boosters, but you don't NEED to just get better weapons, magic, and you're good."
Silent Multiverse 7 Posted May 25 Ay I'll take this
raiden94 15 Posted May 25 I'm not saying be more like Atlus but, in order for ATB to feel better they gotta tweak their whole mechanical make up.
Silent Multiverse 7 Posted May 25 Close enough to "knight firetruck off"
Otti#8624 26 Posted May 25 That would need Square to actually improve on an old system and not create a brand new one
Otti#8624 26 Posted May 25 Like I hate that there is a big chance the FF9 remake is just going to do something completely new, not even FF7 Remake based
raiden94 15 Posted May 25 Its a double edge sword. On one hand, FF makes a new one each game, and it keeps things fresh and interesting, while also allowing more room to experiment and less rules to hold you back. On the other, Atlus refines their mechanics over 30+ literal actual years, and it culminates with Metaphor Re:Fantazio, a game that, imo, is mechanicaly fantastic and essentially their 'perfect' game in terms of gameplay. Silent Multiverse 7 Posted May 25 Before you guys cite ffxv and 16 I just want a proper arpg ff game that's Hella alot closer to kh3's combat style both games arent that style hell even ff7 remake/rebirth is more half atb action half tb hybrid. Liftea 14 Posted May 25 I want a action FF game that has the feel of FFXVI but works like FFVIIR or A turn-based system based on Octopath Traveler 2's combat system mixed with mechanics from SMTV or Persona/Metaphor
Otti#8624 26 Posted May 25 I understand your first point but its not like people are sick of the Atlus games combat, people still find their new ones fresh to play with it
Liftea 14 Posted May 25 Octopath 2 took FFX's combat system and made it betterturn manipulation in Octopath is even more important than in Metaphor
raiden94 15 Posted May 25 Yeah I know, I was phrasing it like that to try and be fair and objectiveCause on God I've been drinking that Atlus Kool-Aid like crazy recently
Otti#8624 26 Posted May 25 Its not like I am against doing something new either
raiden94 15 Posted May 25 I think Atlus might have my favorite catalog of RPG's on the market
Otti#8624 26 Posted May 25 But ever since FFX its just been new combat systems and not improving on what came before
