What was terrible about the world building in the original game?

That was because they didn't have the time so they just ended up being extra characters with some short stories.

And that is fully debatable. There are some interesting things in Rebirth but plenty of still that just bad.

And no it does not, if anything Rebirth makes the whole thing so much more trivial.

The Gi get mentioned in the story but have 0 backstory. Shinra rebuilding Nibelheim and then putting actors there doesnt make any sense at all The black materia not having a backstory Gongaga just exists Wutai has no real backstory in the og and we dont get real insight into its culture or backstory at all Holy materia has no real backstory Cetra have no real backstory It's all just rushed and superficial

Og ff7 is an unfinished game

3 minutes of screentime is not a short story

They have no story at all

Even zack has no real characterization

If any modern ff would do what og ff7 did people would crash out over it and say that the game is trash

It's why I dont give rebirth complete shit despite my issues with the ending

Rebirth does more things right than the og

Despite all the issues with the main story beats

Fucking costa del sol in Rebirth has more fleshed out writing than wutai or gongaga in og ff7

OG ff7 fans pretty much only talk about thr plate, aeriths scene, the lifestream sequence or the northern crater but never about the things that are in between these evente

They are so neglected in the og that no one cares about it

It does and it's also an issue. You have this seemingly ill person in the party and no one ever really questions them. It's even worse in og becaude Tifa doesnt tell anyone that Cloud is talking shit which thank god got fixed in Rebirth. It makes her look like an asshole in og
