I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

He genuinely does not need more than he gets in the original and this is coming from someone who likes Crisis Core and loves Zack.
The original games gives what he needs. He's a Soldier who befriends Cloud and then dies protecting him and giving him the sword. His story begins and ends there.
Remake and Rebirth has devalued his character completely by bringing him back in bizarre ways instead. Rather than keeping him dead for what his role is, they brought him back doing literally nothing and just running around in a multiverse/lifestream/whatever-the-fuck-you-believe-it-is just talking to people that leads to nowhere until he's shoved into a bossfight he has zero reason to be in. This isn't adding more characterization to him, its harming the little and effective character he had to begin with.
ANd I don't mean to be a dick here but it just fits Discord Image
ALl of this has been talked about and people still do, its just a realy old game. Everything that needs to be said has been said.
as much as i love seeing more zack, they definitely have not done anything substantial with him and i hard agree there. I'm still holding out hope that revelation will conclude that stuff on a high note and make rebirth's stuff make more sense but so far it just kinda ruins him, especially for someone who hasn't played CC yet like my partner. it's like it's baiting new players but not giving them what they want unless they pay CC and wait for revelation
There is also this really weird thing that showing more means being better and its sadly becoming a lost art in a lot of stuff. Leaving stuff up to your imagination does not mean it is bad. Sephiroth is so much more effective in the original because he barely shows up. It gives your imagionation a run for it because everywhere you go you see and hear what Sephiroth is capable of doing up until you finally meet him and the game starts ramping up what Sephiroth can do, and its so summon a goddamn meteor.
Remake and Rebirth has lost this magic completely because you have already beaten his ass twice now
And that's after you have already seen his smirking ass 50 times
like I'm praying it all leads to a very emotional end with Cloud's meltdown and recovery era and that's that, but i just have a feeling they're probably going to shove zack into the ending somehow and i dont feel great about that
Developers can say all they want that the reason they did it is because Sephiroth is that well known but its bullshit. This is a remake over 20 afer the original games, this brought in an insane amount of new people to the series so that effect would still work no matter what. And if they really cared about showing your cards early because people already know their things then they wouldn't have made Cloud's head such a giant part of the story. Nibelheim incident would have been shown early, including everything with Zack.
Sometimes less is more and the original FF7 shows that extremely well regardless if it was a story decision, lack of time or just technical limitations.
that said, the one line cloud says in the trailer definitely sounds like its meant for zack and aerith and i really hope that we get a heart tugging scene in the lifestream or his head or whatever where he's thanking them for everything. dont drag it out but still make it mean something yknow
Yeah I am hoping that will be the case, but I am also afraid they are going to shove both of them into a moment that is just about Cloud and Tifa.
Will be a tricky balance but we will see I guess
How can you criticize Jill in FFXVI for not having substance and then defend objectively shitty writing and world building of FF7. The Gi need an expansion because they are important to Nanaki's character arc Same for the Cetra. The Cetra are a majort part of FF7's lore and also the reason why Shinra believes in the holy land. Claiming that they don't need an expansion is nuts. Also Wutai being an attraction place in og FF7 makes the story even worse so FF7R is already better in that regard because it gives Wutai agency in the story
Just admit that og ff7 has in some ways worse storytelling than anything in the remake trilogy. It really doesn't hurt
Sorry but it sounds just like you are trying to bullshit around the flaws and issues because you like the og story
Yuffie, Vincent and Red XIII have as much quality in terms of writing as Lunafreya in FFXV
which means nothing
that's just straight up disingenuous. Sephiroth doesn't do anything at all. What do you expect people to imagine?
he has no substance as a character
his only mystery is that he's fucking useless
he's just a clown that occassionally pops up, laughs and disappears. this also has been the case in og
Jenova is infinitely more interesting
