It's not like the previous games shied away from it to be honest

one of the reasons i loved the story of CotC

it was brutal

OT2 spoiler: [spoiler]In OT2 there's a story about incest and one guy fucks over 40 women to create a perfect child and then the 20+ children fuck each other again to create even more children[/spoiler]

and somehow in the end it turns into bloodborne x nier

Yeah it's what I meant by it not being shied away in previous games

the unified storytelling angle also made it much more compelling than the separate stories/POVs and pacing of the other two imo
