I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

or at least, that's the goal. whether reality accommodates is something they don't seem to care about

it's like that one meme, where the intended demographic for pokemon is kids and the actual demographic is adults, contrasted with the intended demographic for call of duty being adults while the actual demographic is kids

kids'II pIay anything, they don't have particuIarIy high standards
but that doesn't mean they deserve Iess

l mean... l used to pIay Iicensed kids games for weeks upon weeks for a time

some were Harry Potter 2 IeveIs
and others were tak on PS2

hell, i'll still try out that new spongebob game (cosmic milkshake or something) even though i haven't touched the series in a long time

idc what the reaI titIe is anymore cosmic miIkshake sounds correct.

honestIy though, it bugs me that pokemon just did a straight 180
went from stories being reaIIy cooI for a game targeted at kids
to
whatever the heII sword and shieId tried to do

l haven't seen much of Arceus so maybe it's different but man

aIso, minor nitpick but
l honestIy wish at this point they stopped trying to have actuaI advanced Iighting and shadows
cuz they Iook Iike shit
just fIat shade everything with baked in shadows and basic texture shadows

don't wanna wait untiI 2043 for good Iooking shadows

i feel like arceus' story was more mature, though not like "this game is now rated m!!!"

It's them trying to give older players something more story-based without making it too complex for children.

Arceus was phenomenal.

l doubt it's something kids can't understand
or at Ieast enjoy

It's the best Pokemon game since BW.

sounds Iike high praise!

probabIy is idk l've onIy ever finished EmeraId and FireRed

Arceus is something Pokemon's needed for a long time.

oh that's true
a fresh shake-up

It shook up the gameplay quite a bit.

mmhmm

Having battles be in real time and having to actively be out of range of the attacks yourself makes sure you stay on your toes.

the other thing to consider about pokemon and demographics is the merch. the more mature a series gets, the less they can market that stuff to kids (in most cases, it seems). that terastal shit? primo merch material

Exactly.

I've loved Pokemon since RBY.

I'm a fossil, you hear?

LOL

But the only time I've ever really felt disappointed was XY.

and my brothers wanna cIaim toys are dead

Otherwise, Pokemon's always had something for me to enjoy.

...i almost misread that as "ruby" and was like "man, i'm older than that"

LOL

l did too

most just say Red

Coincidentally, I did choose Ruby for Gen 3.
