tbh the Iower quaIity made me think it Iooked better than it did
the higher resoIution murdered that fact

The areas do look good, there is no denying that. But it's also just pretty standard looks to all of them.

The most unique one that Daz posted is the second pic with the weird structure to the right.

my biggest criticism so far is that they don't really play with height but then. We don't see the entire zone and it could be different in the final game

but even beyond there's just nothing here

Ah yeah, so far everything does look pretty flat

most expIoration games tend to forget it exists, at most they'II give you Iike, a treasure chest if you make it high up

The most verticality we have seen so far was in the gameplay demo journalists was able to play, and that was a very linear level

That's not to say being flat is bad, if that's what you build the game around then it's fine

Hopefully there is just stuff to do

And look at

I don't really expect them to do much with verticality in normal zones, because most zones in older XIV areas were flat

and in later expansions they are designed with flying in mind which XVI probably won't do

apparently they showed what you can do in the zones but we didn't see it because of the stream going down constantly

I also don't see what else they can do with the zones to make them more "interesting"

I mean yes there's obviously stuff like ruins, or destroy artillery, some villages, hell even dead bodies
