but sometimes style comes at a payment of gameplay or vice versa

Debatable. KH2 lets you get away with basically anything if you're playing standard or below.

the balance is hard to find sometimes

and reaction commands sit way too much on the style side of said spectrum

KH2 has great bosses and great styles and an ok-ish story

but gameplay, compared to other KH games, is at a loss

Problem is, you two are in the "KH2 is overrated crowd" so nitpicking seem like glaring flaws
