This honestly isn't anything new either from Square and going "multiplatform"

Just last year they made a big deal about putting more games on Xbox

A year later and they are still not getting a bunch of games on there for brand new releases

Square is also the one wanting to focus on one platform, which is why they go to Sony and Microsoft to ask for funding

Yoshida said the same for FF16 thing and I think Kitase did too for the Remake project

Are there not already multiplatform?
The only game not multiplatform is like Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI.
The best thing they can do is go for PlayStation 4+5, Nintendo Switch 1+2, Xbox (maybe going for the Gamepass money), PC (Steam, Epic) and maybe even try mobile(Android, Apple).

I will believe it when i see it but I doubt this is going to change in any meaningful way

Multiplatform is like PlayStation 4+5, Nintendo Switch 1+2, PC (Steam, Epic), Mobile/Smartphone (iOS and Android) and then Xbox. But Xbox is only good for the Gamepass money.
