XV had dungeons which was cool but getting to them is empty and boring
rebirth is the first FF to get the open world thing mostly right imo. just add those dungeons into nooks and crannies of what we have now and its best of both worlds

XVI took the empty and boring and made it even worse

half of the "open world" isn't even explorable 💀

16s open areas are boring as hell

as i finish up rebirth this week, every time i reach a cliff and look out i'm always like "man thats so cool that almost all of this is actually explorable" and then i remember how i did the same thing in one of XVI's areas and was immediately hit with the realization that it was just a pretty backdrop
