Surprised you but Rebirth as game of the year

I am honestly fine with any game except the DLC and Wukong getting game of the year

And with Wukong it's only because I haven't played it

originally I wanted to pick Metaphor

but Rebirth is just the better game if you know what I mean

it's more a videogame than Metaphor

and also because I want to support the direction of Final Fantasy

I think what they did with Rebirth they should continue in the future

Rebirth also took way more risks than Metaphor

and was more innovative

innovative in terms of the franchise. not necessarily game mechanics

Rebirth winning GotY will definitely affect how SE is gonna move forward

also Hamaguchi is just wholesome as firetruck so how can I say no

music was the easiest one for me to pick because metaphor's soundtrack is just too homogenized

and also in general the lack of soundtracks in the game

But yeah the rest is kinda just there

Rebirth has so much variety. It has the uematsu themes, a broadway musical song, variety in the overworld themes (e.g. gongaga, cosmo canyon, gold saucer), hollow as an overworld theme etc.

Metaphor lost art direction to astro bot because I still think the UI sucks btw

I want them to use rebirth's combat system but with improvements of the action part

the game feels in a lot of ways still too clunky

with part 3 they will have 3 games that have this combat system. just reuse it for XVII

it's so much easier than designing something entirely new from scratch
