I get frustrated when Video Game adaptations feel they need to dumb it down or make it needlessly complex for the mainstream audience

I am one of those were I want an adaption to be as close as possible to the source material, or at least elevate it

Filter us out.

But with this show its funny

When they do original stuff I love it so much more

The Bill episode in season 1 was fantastic

I loved the Jackson stuff in this episode and that was original too

Tbh I think some of these mentalities made their way into the gaming space, and it started with Kojima replacing David Hayter for Keifer Sutherland. Cauze then they recast Kratos, OG7 VA's get recasted, Persona 3 gets recasted, all the Mario and Sonic casts get recasted for the movies like

Video game stuff feels so expendable

I mean in regards to Kratos, they tried to make it work with the old one but couldn't

"What? No we can't have the dude who's voiced Mario for 40 years voice him in the movie hahaha what are you stupid?"

Like ok the Minecraft movie, whatever, do what you want

But idk man, I don't like the way Hollywood treats our source materials.

It's less hollywood and I think it's a Sagaftra union issue

A lot of these studios are signed with sagaftra, which is great to support unions and such

mm that's a good point yeah I didn't think of that

But an issue with this union specifically is the rule that they can't hire non-unions unless with some rigid rules in place

So if they are in the union they might as well hire hollywood people as most are in there

Voice actors can't get into this either that easily because Sagaftra firetrucks them over completely

Especially dub voice actors.

You bust your ass and spill your guts out every performance just to have some random jagoffs on the internet be like
